Job Introduction:

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Security Operations Center (“SOC”) Supervisor. The Security Operations Center (“SOC”) Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities and is directly accountable for the effective and efficient management of the SOC and its operators, and other staff including coordination. This role leads and further develops a team that is responsible for 24x7x365 monitoring of threats, as well as the tools and processes that support the core mission of defending the organization against security threats. This position collaborates closely with the security architecture teams, security teams, and other internal and client stakeholders to empower the business and continuously enhance the security posture of the organization.

The SOC Supervisor has high visibility and direct responsibility for the effective and efficient operations of the SOC including:

  • Report generation incident monitoring/response
  • Communications
  • Manage the daily operations and effectiveness of the SOC
  • Education to SOC members, including onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and improvements
  • Vulnerability management from a variety of sources
  • Process refinement and implementation
  • Project management
  • Lead the SOC team in a fast-paced environment, while exercising composure, professionalism and teamwork during incidents. Support and oversee incident response activities as the most senior escalation point on the SOC team. Exercise discretion and confidentiality on a need-to-know basis when performing investigations
  • Cross-team/discipline collaboration
  • Maintenance of internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Act as an advisor and partner to both SOC and its client organizations regarding security risks; work collaboratively with impacted parties to assess business drivers and provide recommendations
  • Participate in the development and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to SOC operations, to benchmark and further enhance capabilities
  • Participate in internal assessments and tabletop exercises, and other activities that contribute to operational readiness
  • Benchmark and implement industry best practices to detect and mitigate potential threats
  • Collaborate with management in developing technical direction, as well as assessing reasonable objectives and timelines
  • Manage and enhance the tools, tactics, and techniques used within with the SOC. Lead in the assessment, architecture and implementation of security technologies
  • Develop staff of varying skill levels on both cybersecurity competencies/expertise and personal development. Guide in their continued growth and success as individuals and as a team
  • Ensure that all Post Orders are being followed and improved as necessary
  • Responsible for disciplinary and corrective actions of team members
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Proactively identifying problems, using problem solving, critical thinking, and leadership to prioritize and execute on resolutions autonomously
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and provide training for personnel assigned to the SOC to facilitate effective performance
  • Provide emergency and non- emergency security system monitoring, event dispatch, and emergency notification services
  • Manage complex and distributed delivery models
  • Develop and maintain global compliance training, tracking, and remediation programs
  • Define, evaluate and improve processes within the team, as well as consult with several operations teams to ensure they comply with the global policies
  • Lead cross-functional teams and multiple projects with competing priorities and varying dependencies
  • Provide clear requirements for external groups
  • Drive continuous improvement of global physical security and other programs
  • Manage communication of progress/status within the team and with partners
  • Maintain and improve SOC operations by monitoring system performance
  • Coordinate with a variety of regional and global integrators and systems
  • Identify and evaluate state-of-the-art technologies to improve and enhance SOC capabilities

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Security, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Cyber/Physical Security Incident Response, Security Operations Center, or a mission-critical environment
    • Associate’s  degree in Security, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Cyber/Physical Security Incident Response, Security Operations Center, or a mission-critical environment
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Cyber/Physical Security Incident Response, Security Operations Center, or a mission-critical environment
  • Must be able to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for employment
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience with surveillance operations, emergency dispatch center management, mass notification systems, and corporate travel, logistics program

  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment:  Office, indoor with minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures

Major activity:  Working on PC and using telephone/radio while sitting
