As a Security Operations Center Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring and documenting inconsistencies that pertain to the safety and security of the corporation’s employees, facilities, and property. Using a variety of tools that range from access control and alarm monitoring system to various business intelligence sources, open source media, Internet and in-house tools.  The SOC Operator is required to detect, analyze, and alert others regarding any adverse conditions to the corporation and its employees. These may range from extreme weather conditions, political instability, crime, terror, to technical failures. The position monitors all security, communications and fire/life safety systems and is the liaison between all security departments.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Monitor all security, communications and fire/life safety systems within the designated region via the provided monitoring systems
  • Serve as the liaison between all departments and the Security Department
  • Handle (without delay) complaints and unusual/critical event information to the appropriate personnel
  • Directly responsible for the accurate documentation of routine and unusual events occurring on or near the facilities (accomplished via shift reports, pass-downs logs, incident reports, incident reports logs, or other established methods)
  • Accurately maintain control of all equipment and keys in the Control Room. Accurately logs all equipment and keys signed out and returned by Security, parking and shuttle bus staff
  • Complete 'Task work orders" for all reported maintenance needs
  • Inform (without delay) to the proper personnel of any missing, damaged, or inoperative equipment or communications, alarm, CCTV, or other systems
  • Proactively monitor all surveillance cameras and CCTV remote viewer programs. Monitors and responds to all security/life safety system alarms
  • Control and monitor the two-way communication systems


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable state licensing requirements

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
  • Minimum of one (1) year verifiable experience in  information research or SOC experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year verifiable experience in a security command or operations center
  • Associates Degree or above in Political Science/International Relations/Communications/IT/Health & Safety/Criminal Justice or closely related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year verifiable call center or alarm center experience

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Advanced computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, discerns patterns in detail
  • Excellent verbal/writing skills
  • Ability to think through problems for logical solutions, and remain calm and professional under stress
  • Ability to speak clearly, give direction, and provide guidance to employees and security staff during emergencies
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor with minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures

Major activity:  Sitting, standing, speaking listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Sitting, and standing.  Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
