As a SOC Communication Specialist, you will serve as the main point of intake, dissemination and escalation of information and issues as reported by employees, contractors, and outside agencies. During the time of disasters or special events the communication specialist will handle the real-time dissemination of information and serve as the main point of contact. The main duties are writing reports, answering and screening phone calls, updating tracking spreadsheets, CCTV video retrieval, downloading and copying to disk, access control troubleshooting and additional related duties as needed. The position is responsible for reporting to security management, supervisors and shift leads

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Effectively responding to critical incidents
  • Monitoring critical infrastructure in a highly regulated environment 
  • Writing factually accurate incident reports and communications; up channeling the information as needed
  • Intaking and disseminating information and communications for both emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Handling corporate communications, calls-for-service, radio dispatch, phone, and email correspondence
  • Courteously assisting company employees in all concerns that pertain to safety and security
  • Conducting ongoing review of multiple systems and sources to detect potential risks
  • Monitoring and maintaining the help tickets system related to system or warranty building items and escalate all items pertaining to critical facility spaces to the client
  • Operating computer systems, radio consoles, enhanced telephone systems, video monitoring systems, access control programs, and other associated security equipment
  • Compiling daily reports and incident reports
  • Simultaneously performing multiple tasks under steady pressure, high stress, with frequent interruptions and a high degree of public and client contact
  • Typing and entering data accurately and at a speed necessary for a successful job performance
  • Understanding the organization, operation, and services of the client, and outside departments as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities
  • Investigating alarms and respond by sending security patrol, or alerting Fire services or law enforcement as needed
  • Detecting, classifying, recording, and investigating incidents (events, activities, incoming information or intelligence) via research of access control and video review as directed by the client or SIS management
  • Performing other tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as assigned

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Must possess experience working in call center, operation security or similar environment
  • Must possess at least two (2) years Military, law enforcement, security or similar

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Applications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must possess the ability to manage ambiguity and a consistently evolving/changing environment
  • Must be a strong team player with business maturity, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Must possess strong customer service skills and have the ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Must be comfortable with high-tech work environment, and constant learning of new tools and innovations
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Office environment, writing reports, disseminating information, customer service, speaking, listening, observing.

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
