As a Security Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and evaluating the conduct and performance of the Security Force Members in his/her assigned unit or team.  He or she is qualified to perform the duties of the Central Alarm Station (CAS) or Secondary Alarm Station (SAS) operator and Response Team Leader (RTL).  The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and facility and company policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.  The Shift Supervisor performs post inspections, assigns work to employees, issues weapons and equipment, and handles employee issues and concerns.​

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions


  • Provides supervision and work direction for security force members
  • Supervises, observes, and evaluates the job performance of security force members
  • Conducts post inspections
  • Provides training, coaching, and mentoring for security force members
  • Provides counseling and discipline for identified deficiencies in security force member performance
  • Assists with hiring, promotion, and termination processes, as appropriate
  • Issues weapons and equipment to security force members
  • Conducts performance reviews for security force members
  • Reports any issues or concerns about the performance of security equipment or security force members to Security Shift Manager or management
  • Implements proper compensatory measures in a timely manner
  • Conducts shift briefing, as required
  • Reviews paperwork generated during shift for accuracy and completeness and corrects any discrepancies
  • Ensures that all inventories of security equipment are properly completed
  • Ensures that security equipment testing is properly performed
  • Performs as a Central Alarm Station (CAS) or Secondary Alarm Station (SAS) operator and Response Team Leader
  • Fills in for the Security Shift Manager, if certified


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary state or federal licensing requirements.

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of successful service as a Security Force Member

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Office; indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Working on PC while sitting; telephone use; walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, bending, sitting, stooping, lifting up to 30 pounds of equipment or gear, stretching and reaching
