Job Introduction:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk and Assurance Manager to join our Regional Finance team. This is a new role and will support the strengthening of our ‘Second line of defence’. The main purpose of this role is to plan and deliver audit and assurance work, with support and direction from the Director of Risk, Assurance & Compliance, that contributes to the strengthening of the ‘second line of defence’ for G4S’ business with UK Government. 

This is a key role as the candidate will help to implement and embed new and improved processes and control / assurance mechanisms from business as usual continuous improvement initiatives and also the requirements and recommendation from KPMG in their work pursuant to G4S Care & Justice’s Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the Serious Fraud Office.

The candidate must be a self-starter, well-organised and able to prioritise, and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and externally, with supply chain and clients as needed. The role is home based but will require Nationwide travel to UK Business Units as and when required.

Main Responsibilities include:

A focal point for the role is the 360 / Contract Assurance Review process.  The successful candidate will provide support on the end-to-end 360 process, with particular focus on the testing of key controls as set out in the 360 Template.

The successful candidate will also undertake audits of suppliers / subcontractors to G4S on its UK Government contracts to provide assurance that the supplier is meeting its contractual obligations, and risks to the supplier / subcontractor, and therefore G4S, are identified and appropriately mitigated.

The successful candidate, when capacity permits, will also be required to support the development and maintenance of the risk and control matrix (RACM) by conducting walkthrough tests, drafting of flowcharts and accompanying narrative of control processes and collection and compilation of supporting evidence, and periodic re-testing of operating effectiveness.

The successful candidate will be required to deputise for the Director of Risk, Assurance and Compliance as required including, but not limited to, attendance at and administration of Risk Committees and the Contract Assurance Committee.  

The position requires significant travel within the UK (when restrictions allow)

  • Have significant audit experience underpinned by an audit / accounting qualification
  • Have strong awareness of the importance of corporate governance, internal controls and the principle of segregation of duties.
  • Have proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Be able to identify and evaluate risks and the control environment, and recommend improvements
  • Have Excellent analytical and verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Have Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build and maintain good working relationships at all levels of the organisation and with our supply chain
  • Have a hands-on and evidenced-based approach with the capacity to complete and document detailed work against deadlines. 
  • Be well organised with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • Be highly conscientious and self-motivated with a flexible approach to demands of the role
  • Have strong ethical and professional values
