We have an exciting opportunity for a full time, permanent Quality Operations Team Leader to join our team in Leicester.  As a Quality Operations Team Leader you will be responsible for the management of the QC inspector team tasked with undertaking AQL inspection for incoming components and finished products. You will coordinate parts containment, stock check, recovery planning (rework) for any non-conformance and support production critical process failure investigations whilst maintaining documentation for key machine settings (test welding). In return, you will receive a competitive salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme and life assurance.

Role Responsibility:

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Line management responsibility for a team of QC inspectors.
  • Accountability for the scheduling, prioritising and executing of inspection activity for both incoming components and outgoing finished products with applying AQL standard.
  • Ensuring all critical components and finished products are inspected in accordance with product quality criteria and QC inspection plan.
  • Ensuring all inspection results are recorded into the internal share drive for quality and production KPI review.
  • Understand and action all quarantined stock (MRB) daily and report to relevant staff (quality/production/procurement) for a recovery resolution (rework/return to supplier).
  • Coordinating and following up recovery tasks (ie: non-conforming containment, reworks) for any non-conforming parts/products identified from the QC inspection activities.
  • Advising the business (Production and Quality operations ) on any faulty QC inspection tools, test equipment or critical machines (ie: welding) that is found to operate inefficiently.
  • Work closely with the production team (or manager) to support the development of new manufacturing procedures and improve productivity.
  • Operate/set up/maintain the production test chambers, jigs and fixtures. Work closely with Product Technical Manager to document any critical technical information (test/welding).
  • identify and support any test equipment (or test chamber) repairs or calibration required within the CEM manufacturing and test processes.
  • Support any new/improved component sample trials (dimensional measurement/functional testing).
  • Assist QHSE Manager (or Production Manager) with any product failure investigation, sample trials and corrective action implementation following the root cause of the failure is identified.
  • Actively identify, initiate, and manage process improvements within the quality inspection function and production critical process (testing and welding)  to drive efficiency.
  • Management of equipment calibration (scheduling and arrangement) for all test equipment in MTL and supplier (CEM). Ensure the calibration register and records are maintained.
  • Responsible for highlighting any non-compliance to the relevant manager or approved contractor and implementing the resolution.
  • Participating in internal and external audits as appropriate.
