Payroll and Benefits Administrator 


Job Introduction:

Role Responsibility:

The general purpose and function of this role is to ensure the provision of optimum support to the Payroll and benefits department. This support position is key to the effective execution of service to the G4S branches with regards to both payroll and benefits.

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will report to the Manager, Payroll and Benefits.

Payroll Duties (50%)

Process biweekly payroll for 9000+ salaried and hourly employees - changes, hires, terminations, overtime sheets, incentive in all provinces including Quebec through ADP Payroll System.

Remit payroll deductions to Pension, Benefits suppliers. Sort and distribute mail to the appropriate recipients

Process ROE through-payroll upload file to HRDC, and also manage revisions or submissions through Service Canada’s ROE web.

Perform all year end procedures and tasks, Reconcile all payroll, benefits payments made,

When necessary in departmental projects, run designated reports on system, e.g. Staff Listing, Salary Analysis Reports, benefits reports, cost reports

Inform supervisor of inaccuracies in regional payroll data and make corrections where necessary

Follow up with managers for missing payroll documents and collect the information in a timely manner

Provide analytical support on payroll and or benefits as required

Ensure efficient payroll and benefits cost control processes are in place

Benefits Duties (50%):

Set up, check and verify Benefits and Pension eligibility, review discrepancies, investigate and process adjustments when needed.

Administer, process, run and disseminate reports for all benefits & pension (including hiring, termination and all leaves e.g. STD, LTD, EHT, WSIB & Medical, RRSP)

Reconcile monthly remittances for Pension as well as billing for benefits

Liaise with Benefits providers when and if needed, Other benefit duties as needed

Ad hoc projects as assigned

Back up to the Payroll and Benefits team to cover vacations

Provides payroll and benefit information by answering questions and requests from Employee, Management and External Vendors.

Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed


The Ideal Candidate:

University Degree or College diploma in a business/accounting related area or applicable work experience

Meet and maintain any applicable licensing or training certification requirements for either benefits or payroll – PCP or CPM designations

3-4 years of experience with payroll and 1 – 2 years of experience with benefits.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills
