As a Patrol Officer, you will conduct unarmed foot and/or vehicle patrol (interior and/or exterior), control access and egress, compose reports, conduct site inspections, deter criminal activity and misconduct.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Perform monitoring, surveillance and other physical security functions as defined in post orders
  • Perform incident detection and mitigation requirements including but not limited to checking systems, and responding to various events of varying severity including high severity such as breaches, life threatening events and natural disasters; investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to promote physical security and safety; watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
  • Deter theft and damage to property
  • Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot, up to 7 miles per shift
  • Contribute to communication and awareness of security policies and issues as needed; warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
  • Provide facility escorting functions
  • Provide delivery and receiving functions; move large and heavy objects typically not exceeding 50 pounds (with reasonable accommodation); assist with any degree of heavier packages or deliveries
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits; control/direct traffic; observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Provide assistance, directions, and support to employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, state or county security licensing (as applicable)
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, certification in each of the following:
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
    • First Aid

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • If previously employed, meaningful and verifiable work history
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Associate’s degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves, or National Guard
    • Service in Auxiliary Police or Police Cadets
    • Meaningful and verifiable work history

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Extensive walking (up to 7 miles during an 8-hour period, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling, maneuvering up to 50 lbs. (with accommodation, if necessary)
