Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Monitor all security, communications and fire/life safety systems within the designated region via the provided monitoring systems
  • Serve as the liaison between all departments and the Security Department
  • Handle (without delay) complaints and unusual/critical event information to Shift Supervisor, Account Manager, and Security Director
  • Proactively monitor, identify, correlate and escalate threat/emergency/crisis incidents by leveraging open source intelligence and physical security technology tools
  • Directly responsible for the accurate documentation of routine and unusual events occurring on or near the facilities (accomplished via shift reports, pass-downs logs, incident reports, incident reports logs, or other established methods)
  • Provide baseline analytic analysis and support to threat intelligence team and leadership
  • Identify trends in security threats and their potential impact on business operations
  • Develop appropriate responses for protection, defense and response of American Family Enterprise assets
  • Assist in development of crisis response, business continuity and investigation operations
  • Accurately maintain control of all equipment and keys in the Control Room. Accurately logs all equipment and keys signed out and returned by Security, parking and shuttle bus staff
  • Complete 'Task work orders" for all reported maintenance needs
  • Inform (without delay) the Shift Supervisor I Account Manager of any missing, damaged, or inoperative equipment or communications, alarm, CCTV, or other systems
  • Proactively monitor all surveillance cameras and CCTV remote viewer programs. Monitors and responds to all security/life safety system alarms
  • Answer and respond to events and situations received over regular and emergency phones and intercoms
  • Control and monitor the two-way communication systems
  • Speak clearly, give direction, and provide guidance to employees and security staff during emergencies


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable state licensing requirements

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in investigative journalism, news reporting, or a related field
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in protective services, business or related field
    • A minimum of 4 or more years of active service in any military branch
    • Associate’s degree (or 60 credits) or higher in criminal justice with current or prior active military service
    • 2 years of work experience in public sector dispatch or emergency operations center
    • 2 years of verifiable data center security experience
    • 3 years of verifiable private/corporate security experience

  • Must possess general understanding of open source threat intelligence and emergency response tools (Everbridge, TLO, Lexis Nexis, social media platforms, online publically available records, traveler tracker solutions, etc.)
  • Must possess familiarity and understanding of access control systems, video surveillance and identity management systems (CCure 9000, exacqVision, etc.)
  • Must possess strong computer, internet, and technology skills
  • Must possess knowledge of and interest in world affairs, journalism, or related fields
  • Must possess solid ability to prioritize using good judgement in evaluating the relative urgency of various issues in terms of time and sensitivity, impact, complexity, importance, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and meet short-term deadlines
  • Must possess demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to contribute to and thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Must possess well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Must possess the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner
  • Must possess the ability to maintain flexible work schedule and work night shifts, weekends and holidays

  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
