The Operational Delivery Manager (ODM) is a critical role for the PSNI contract and the person appointed will be a key influencer in driving and delivering a consistent and cost effective operation. 

The ODM is responsible for the cost effective scheduling of resource across the PSNI contract. They will monitor the department’s performance against budgeted and planned operational hours. They will also review schedules, absence, attrition and monitor headcount, enabling recruitment to be planned and delivered. They will be expected to use available technologies to deliver detailed and accurate reporting and drive self-serve across the contract.

 Job Duties:

  • Will be responsible the all of the building, maintenance and monitoring of all work schedules

  • Manage the AOC function ensuring effective delivery of departmental targets and objectives to ensure all planned hours are delivered

  • Ensure the team seeks a balance for providing the best customer and colleague experience while continuing to drive maximum efficiency

  • Manage all leave approvals

  • Responsible for the reduction in overtime spend through effective scheduling

  • Optimise and champion the use of the Javelin system and be responsible for liaising with the wider G4S teams to ensure the contract adheres to business processes.

  • Lead Javelin working group to share information, changes and gain feedback from the management team

  • Responsible for ensuring working time legislation is adhered to at all times and that all employees’ Health and Safety is at the forefront of everything we do

  • Act in an advisory capacity to the management support teams, providing reporting, trends and issues with proposed solutions

  • Will be the sign off manager for all Javelin users ensuring a consistent and appropriate level of user competence.

  • Will stand in for Contracts Manager as and when required.

  • Will ensure Duty Manager weekend/bank holiday cover is scheduled and published on a weekly basis (The ODM will be required to be on call as part of that rota)

  • Gather relevant statistical data and drafts reports on issues such as demographic information, attrition rates, recruitment requirements and absence.

  • Manages and authorises all training requirements ensuring operational delivery is not compromised and within the contractual KPI targets.

  • Will work closely with Finance, HR and Operations on a day to day basis.


Key Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the PSNI contract and KPI’s

  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a management role 

  • Must have detailed knowledge of and  be a competent user of Javelin

  • Competent user of Google sheets and excel
