HMP Rye Hill is situated in Willoughby, near Rugby, Warwickshire and is a category B training prison acting as a national resource for sentenced male adults who have been convicted of a current or previous sex offence(s).

We are looking for a non-operational Offender Supervisor to join the Offender Management Unit (OMU) at HMP Rye Hill.

You should be someone that is a positive team player with excellent communication, IT and organisational skills.  You will need the ability to work on your own initiative and balance competing workloads. The role involves liaison with other departments and external agencies, report writing and risk assessment (including OASys completion) and Public Protection responsibilities.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertaking OASys assessments to assess and review levels/type of risk and complete Sentence Plans to timescale and contractual requirements identifying appropriate interventions to assist in reducing risk levels and risk of reoffending.
  • Undertake Parole, HDC & ROTL, Recat assessments as required to enable informed decisions to be taken in line with relevant standards.
  • Ensure Reducing Re-offending objectives are identified and appropriate referrals are made prior to release.
  • Act as a motivator to a specific caseload of prisoners to ensure targets are met effectively.
  • Liaise with external agencies to optimise custody/community integration through care provision and ensure appropriate information sharing.
  • Provide information and complete all documentation accurately and to timescale to ensure complete and current records and enable informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate and communicate about prisoners with OMs in the community to ensure appropriate management of risk
  • Assist in maintaining a positive Health & Safety culture in line with British Safety Council 5 Star standards.
  • Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment.

Essential Skills

  • Experience of working with offenders and an ability to assess their risk levels

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of liaising with external agencies
  • Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
