Job Introduction:

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Nuclear Security Supervisor (SS)/Response Team Leader (RTL). As a Nuclear Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for: daily supervision of shift operations; deployment of the Security Force during contingency events; alarm station operations; and intrusion detection system monitoring, alarm assessment, and testing.  Maintains a working knowledge of the Physical Security Plan, fleet and site-specific implementing procedures, and applicable federal regulations and state laws.  Implements compensatory measures for degraded/malfunctioning security equipment.  Performs post inspections and fitness for duty assessments.  Leads briefings.  Issues and inventories weapons and other security sensitive equipment.  Dispatches, monitors, and validates completion of patrols.  Performs and documents human performance observations.  Utilizes client’s Corrective Action Program to identify and resolve unwanted conditions.  Promotes a Safety Conscious Work Environment.  Provides training, coaching, and mentoring for Security Officers and handles issues and concerns.  Evaluates job performance of direct reports, provides counseling and issues discipline for deficiencies, and conducts performance appraisals.  Performs interviews of new hire candidates and recommends selection for employment.  Maintains all required physical fitness and range qualifications of an Armed Responder, Response Team Leader, and Alarm Station Operator.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Provide supervision and work direction for Security Officers
  • Supervise, observe, and evaluate the job performance of Security Officers
  • Conduct post inspections
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring for Security Officers
  • Provide counseling and discipline for identified deficiencies in Security Officers’ performance
  • Assist with hiring, promotion, and termination processes, as appropriate
  • Issue weapons and equipment to Security Force Members
  • Conduct performance reviews for Security Officers
  • Report any issues or concerns about the performance of security equipment or Security Officers to senior supervision or management
  • Implement proper compensatory measures in a timely manner
  • Conduct shift briefing, as required
  • Review paperwork generated during shift for accuracy and completeness and correct any discrepancies
  • Ensure that all inventories of security equipment are properly completed
  • Ensure that security equipment testing is properly performed
  • As needed, perform as a Central Alarm Station (CAS) or Secondary Alarm Station (SAS) operator
  • As needed, fill in for the Security Shift Supervisor (SSS), if certified
  • Maintain the physical fitness requirements and range qualifications for a site Armed Responder

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to possess and maintain state-required license(s) for armed assignment
  • Ability to possess and maintain Armed Officer and Responder certification in accordance with regulatory requirements and site Training and Qualification plan

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Minimum of one year as a Nuclear Security Officer

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor (to include during inclement weather and high temperatures)

Major activity:  Working on PC while sitting; telephone use; standing; walking

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Walking and climbing stairs while wearing duty equipment, standing, bending, lifting, stretching and reaching/
