Job Introduction:

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for an Armed Nuclear Security Supervisor. As an Armed Nuclear Security Supervisor, you will perform critical tasks on commercial nuclear power generating plants that include high security access control for employees, visitors, receivables, and vehicles, searches of vehicles, personnel, and packages and material, vehicle escort duties, hazards identification, and area surveillance and reporting. Conduct armed stationary, foot and/or vehicle patrols and compensatory measures. Monitor CCTV and plant surveillance equipment as required. Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations. Perform other duties as specified in the nuclear training and qualification plan and post orders. In addition, the Nuclear Security Supervisor has overall responsibility for the training and oversight of all G4S administrative functions to include:  Administration of human resource functions, administration of time sheets, and ensures adherence to company and site policies and procedures, and state and federal laws for personnel administration and compensation related functions. They will also ensure that all personnel will carry out job duties safely and in compliance with all applicable, site, local, state and Federal laws.  The Nuclear Security Supervisor, in coordination with G4S Corporate, ensures effective administration of applicant flow, the hiring/termination process, personnel records, background investigations, workers’ compensation, state licensing, and unemployment claims. The Nuclear Security Supervisor will act as the G4S liaison with the Client.

This position requires availability for response during days, nights, weekends, and holidays to liaison for equipment malfunction, site emergency support activities, personnel training, and financial deadlines.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Acts as the primary contractor representative on-site and point of contact
  • Supervises Nuclear Security Officers and Nuclear Watchpersons
  • Performs all administrative functions to include processing time sheets and shift schedules
  • Reviews and evaluates employee work habits and performance of Nuclear Security Officers and Nuclear Watchpersons to include G4S/RSS Performance Appraisal program
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to regulatory fatigue orders and work hours tracking requirements
  • Addresses discipline, violations, safety issues, and employee concerns
  • Ensures proper staffing through effective applicant flow
  • Ensures all personnel are trained and qualified and maintain qualifications in accordance with the site Training & Qualification Plan
  • Ensure all personnel maintain all required qualifications for site access
  • Ensures that inspections, audits, and tours are performed
  • Assess alarms, investigate and report suspicious activities and/or circumstances, as directed
  • Perform searches of personnel, vehicles, packages and material
  • Perform access verification of personnel, vehicles and materials into the protected area and maintain appropriate log
  • Perform patrols as permitted by the site security plan
  • Participate in security drills, practical exercises and required training programs as directed
  • Identify safety and/or fire hazards and make recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure house-keeping expectations are met
  • Write reports and complete forms and logs
  • Maintain compliance with all site policies, procedures, and directives

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Prior work experience as a nuclear security officer
    • Prior military, law enforcement, or security supervisor/management experience

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work scheduled shifts (i.e. 12 hours, rotating shifts) including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if you were in the military
  • Must be able to successfully complete all training required for the position
  • Must be able to operate a radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors and surveillance equipment.
  • Must have demonstrated an ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Must submit to the following, pre-offer:
    • Pearson Reid Reading and Arithmetic Index
    • Security Officer Profile test
  • Must submit to the following, post-offer in accordance with the code of federal regulations for armed nuclear security assignment (10CFR, Appendix B):
    • MMPI – Psychological testing
    • Physical Exams, including vision and hearing, in accordance with nuclear regulatory requirements and site training and qualification plan
    • Physical fitness (agilities) test in accordance with site training and qualification plan
    • Firearms qualification with handgun and/or rifle per client contract and site training and qualification plan
    • Nuclear site-specific training and testing providing general knowledge of nuclear power generation science and principles, plant rules and regulations, communications, and access. 
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
