Job Introduction:

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Nuclear Security Shift Supervisor. As a Nuclear Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall supervision of the daily operations of the Contract Security Force assigned to his/her shift team. He/she is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and facility and company policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. This position is responsible for implementing the Physical Security Plan, the Safeguards Contingency Plan, and other appropriate documents in the event of a security contingency. He/she ensures that security events, violations, equipment damage and/or malfunctions are promptly and accurately reported to the Security Manager, Project Manager, and others as required.  The Captain/Team Leader is responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels during shift operations, establishing compensatory measures as required, and ensuring they are properly maintained until they are no longer necessary as determined per the regulations and policies. The Security Shift Supervisor is required to maintain the physical fitness requirements and range qualifications for a site Armed Responder. The Captain is responsible to ensure employees are provided a safe work environment and employees are compliant to client and G4S safety standards & expectations. He/she is responsible to provide the right level of oversight to ensure activities are being performed to meet procedure compliance.  The Captain/Team Leader needs to be engaged with all team members promoting a healthy safety conscious work environment (SCWE), is sharing industry lessons learned, taking ownership for his/her actions and holding personnel accountable for individual actions.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Initiate response strategies and direct response activities
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels during shift operations
  • Ensure all orders, directives, and tasks related to security operations are completed to standard in a timely manner
  • Supervise, observe, and evaluate the job performance of Security Supervisors
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to Security Supervisors and Security Officers
  • Initiate regulatory reporting as required and report violations of security rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as required by policy and procedure
  • Initiate and maintain compensatory measures as required
  • Ensure timely, relevant, and accurate information is disseminated at daily shift briefings
  • Conduct inquiries and investigations into operations or personnel issues related to the security force
  • Implement disciplinary actions up to suspension and recommends serious disciplinary actions (long term suspension, termination) to Project Manager and/or designee
  • Ensure security testing requirement/commitments are completed, as required
  • Conduct performance reviews for Security Supervisors
  • Assist with hiring, promotion, and termination processes, as appropriate
  • Recommend corrective actions, changes to requirements, improvements/modifications or program enhancements, as appropriate
  • Ensure G4S safety programs are effectively administered and reinforces safety in daily tasks to reduce risk


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to possess and maintain required state licensing

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the nuclear security industry or an equivalent field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Nuclear Security supervisory or management experience

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Office; minimal to no work in extreme temperatures is expected

Major activity:  Working on PC while sitting; telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Limited, to include some standing, bending, maneuvering up to 10 pounds, and limited stretching and reaching.
