We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.

This is an exciting time to join the G4S Facilities Management Team at Hinkley Point C. We are three years into our ten year contract, working on the largest construction site in Europe. 

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities, up to 1,000 apprenticeships and 64% of the project’s construction value is predicted to go to UK companies. There are currently over 4,000 workers on site.

This is a full time role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 0800 - 1700. The salary for this role is £41,000 per annum.

As the Mechanical Supervisor, you will be supporting the Mechanical Lead in leading and overseeing a team of Plumbing and Air Conditioning Engineers on a mobile basis across a range of sites within the Hinkley Point C contract. To ensure that the team of engineers complete all PPM and reactive maintenance activities in a timely manner and in line with contract SLAs and statutory compliance. 

A fully qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer with Air Conditioning and Plumbing experience is necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead a team of Air Conditioning Engineers and Plumbers, carrying out set to works, permit to works where necessary and supervise with reactive, PPM and minor project tasks.
  • Quality check and sign off on minor installation works
  • Keep updated F-Gas logs and monitor with the Air Conditioning team.
  • Keep LRA current and up to date and audit log books with Plumbing team.
  • Help formulate quotes to upgrade existing systems and equipment that are at capacity as well as to install on new minor works projects.
  • Carry out Health and Safety checks on team and working environments.
  • Liaise with specialist sub-contractors and set to works to enable servicing
  • Operate planned maintenance procedures for assets effectively and safely within their range of qualifications, training and experience.
  • Deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage to assets within their range of qualifications, training and experience as required and by out of hours response where necessary.
  •  Write up reports and technical procedures for Building Maintenance Activities.
  •  Assist in the training and development of other maintenance/technical staff involved in site maintenance activities.
  • Maintain inspection and repairs to various types of heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and security etc. equipment and services on site.
  • Follow detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals in order to carry out all planned maintenance, routine inspections and repairs.
  • Work with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance staff to develop cross-skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.
  • Participate in emergency call out arrangements in respect of Integrated Facilities Management Systems on the maintained sites.
  • Operate on a fixed site basis for a defined period, to assist in project/development work or to cover for an absent site manager/engineer.


The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Requirements are:

  • Fully qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer with AC and Plumbing experience.
  • Experience of Building and Facilities Maintenance.
  • F-Gas.
  • C&G NVQ level 2 in Air Conditioning & Plumbing, or equivalent.
  • Full, clean Driving Licence.
