The Managing Director will be the single point of accountability for Events business ensuring the delivery of the business P&L and growth in line with in year targets and business plan. The role drives strategic customer relationships enabling retention and growth in key accounts and will work closely with broader SSUK&I stakeholders ensuring compliance, alignment and efficiencies where possible in ways of operating.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Own and deliver Events P&L
  • Maintain and build customer  relationships ensuring retention and growth in key accounts in line with in year targets and business plan 
  • Identify and realise opportunities for new business growth in revenue and margin in  line with the SSUK business plan
  • Establish and communicate Events strategy, in line with broader SSUK objectives,  ensuring alignment of organisational  structure and individual accountabilities to enable delivery
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance and consistency in processes and ways of working across all areas of the business and operation
  • Drive effective business planning and forecasting, enabling early communication of requirements into support functions including Resourcing, Training and Sales 
  • Embed a talent management approach within the business in partnership with HR, ensuring appropriate succession planning across key roles 
  • Ensure appropriate representation of the Events business as required in broader business projects and initiatives 
  • Ensure representation of the Events business with key external stakeholders and industry leads, improving presence and brand reputation in the market 
  • Maximise business efficiency through proactive planning, setup and utilisation of appropriate Management Information across workforce management, finance and operational delivery
  • Prepare a robust commercial business plan and annual milestone review and monitor progress against these plans to ensure that the company attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Ensure compliance with internal, contractual and legislative requirements
  • Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links with major/key Events customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key industry decision-makers and other business stakeholders, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the company is competitive in the provision of services
  • Develop and maintain an effective marketing and public relations strategy to promote the products, services and image of G4S Events in the wider community, including appropriate management and reduction of complaints 
  • Represent G4S Events in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure appropriate contract terms.
  • Develop and maintain Total Quality Management systems & ISO regulations throughout the company 
  • Develop and support the implementation of appropriate people policies, procedures and system set up with HR to ensure that the company complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.

Essential Skills & Knowledge
  • Experience delivering major Sports, Conferencing and Music events
  • Previous ownership of P&L
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Level 4 Crowd Management 
  • Experience owning strategic customer relationships
  • Good verbal and numerical reasoning skills

Desirable Skills & Knowledge
  • Previous management of large scale remote casual workforce
  • Door Supervisor Licence
