We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering a quality service to ensure adequate provision of a range of reading and activities materials for all those who wish to make use of the facility.

As a qualified and experienced Librarian you will need to be assertive, enthusiastic, reliable and flexible with good communication skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, order and verify materials to ensure the literary needs of all prisoners/ detainees are met.
  • Advise on all issues within the Prison/ Centre for existing or potential library materials to ensure a wide range of appropriate materials are available.
  • Develop, manage and maintain accurate record keeping systems to ensure stock remains auditable.
  • Provide a suitably open, accessible and comfortable library environment in order to meet contractual specifications.
  • Promote and advertise the full library and activities services to ensure maximum use by prisoners/ detainees.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive Health & Safety culture to support the recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit.
  • Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions.

  • Relevant librarian qualification


Desirable Skills

  • Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
  • Understanding of company’s purchasing procedures and systems
