Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the IT Technical Operations team supporting the business to minimize user downtime. You would be working a variable shift pattern of days and nights and in return will be rewarded with an unsocial hours working allowance. If you have previous experience of providing second-line support to users, performing daily monitoring and administration of systems as well as supporting projects, we would like to hear from you.

The IT Technical Engineer will support the business and minimise user downtime and issues by being responsible for the day to day technical and support needs of the business, through direct support and management of 3rd party suppliers on a 24/7 shift rotation. 

Provide support for ongoing IT Projects throughout the business.

Role Responsibility:

  • Participate in a 24/7 shift rota inclusive of nights, weekends and all bank holidays.
  • Provide second-line support to users of G4S supported applications.
  • Provide second-line support to users of 3rd party supported applications .
  • Participate in an escalation phone line for critical incidents.
  • Management of critical incidents from 1st report through to resolution.
  • Perform general application systems administration for G4S supported applications.
  • Perform daily monitoring tasks to maintain system uptime.
  • Liaise with users to understand, document and manage their requirements and issues to resolution.
  • Work with the IT Development Team to test new IT solutions.
  • Provide technical IT support and guidance to the Projects Team.
  • Provide data extracts to the business to support sales and tender documentation.
  • Manage IT DR and BCP processes.
  • Manage and host internal IT Forums.
  • Identify new and appropriate technologies to support G4S.
  • Build, support and administration of Mobile devices across the business.
  • Build, support and administration of PC and Laptop hardware across the business.
  • Able to learn new skills quickly and effectively through personal learning and development and in house business training.
  • Assist with Field support duties if/when required.


The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills

  • A good understanding of Google G-Suite applications
  • Mobile Device Manager experience
  • Mobile Operating Systems experience (Android, IOS)
  • Must be working towards, or hold an HND in an IT related subject, or MCP, or at least 3 years’ experience working within a support environment.
  • Good communication and planning skills
  • HP and Dell Laptop, PC and Server troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience supporting Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining server operating systems
  • Able to support Microsoft Office
  • Experience of Enterprise Antivirus server/client systems
  • Experience Troubleshooting Network printers and print servers.
  • Experience with Remote access using RDP, Remote assistance and other 3rd Party tools to help remote users.
  • Solid understanding and experience of Active directory
  • Understanding of NTFS Permissions
  • General understanding of TCP/IP Networks
  • General understanding of Cloud hosted environments and technologies

Desirable

  • Experience supporting ChromeOS
  • Knowledge of Powershell, VBscript and/or batch file scripting.
  • Understanding of Monitoring and Alerting systems.
  • Understanding of citrix using published applications and VDI
  • Knowledge and understanding of ITIL best practises
