Job Introduction:

The ICT Mgr is responsible for the day to day management of Communication, Information System, with key responsibility for providing robust and reliable systems in support of G4S SS(I) Iraq, The ICT manager is also responsible for all ESS support systems and contracts within Iraq.

Responsible for delivering a robust and reliable ICT infrastructure to support G4S SS(I) tasks in support of client operations across the entire area of operations within Southern Iraq. This includes, but not limited to, Satellite Tracking, HF/VHF/UHF/VSAT and TCP/IP communication networks.  Given the nature and importance of ICT discipline it may be subject to elements of specific corporate policy and governance particularly in relation to security, licensing and operation.

Responsible for providing an Information’s Systems network across multiple sites in order to provide reliable messaging (both email and instant) shared data access, storage and resiliency.

Responsible for development and engineering of applications and portal sites to ensure they are developed with best practice methodologies and meet the end user requirement.  He will ensure the availability of web products to users on request.

Role Responsibility:

  • Day-to-day management of Communication, Information System, and Applications.
  • Operational management of Radio & ICT Engineers, G4S, ESS and sub-contractors.
  • Project Planning and development.
  • Development of ICT business continuity processes and procedures.
  • Development of ICT disaster recovery processes and procedures.
  • Budget planning, control and procurement support to the Business Unit.
  • ICT liaison for Business Development.
  • Producing written and verbal briefs and formal reports.
  • Liaison with RMIT South Africa and departmental heads to ensure ICT is meeting with Operational requirements.
  • Identifying suitable candidates for recruitment and ensuring posts are filled with adequately trained and experienced staff.

Secondary Functions

Take ownership of any technical issues and actively drive to a satisfactory conclusion.

Consult with manufacturers and local suppliers to resolve technical issues. 

Work closely with the Operations Manager and the Logistic Manager for stores and accurate recording keeping of stores ledgers.

Manage and maintain accurate stores ledgers for all communications equipment.

Identify future requirements (pipeline) and plan ahead accordingly.

Back load and infill of new and faulty equipment from suppliers as well as established sources.

Project co-ordinate and actively drive new equipment introductions and projects with in their region.

Provide on the job training for local national technical staff.

Procure equipment when required as per the G4S procurement process.

The Ideal Candidate:


  • ICT networking and Google Administration.
  • Experience in Windows Systems and Servers.
  • Experience in CCTV, Access Control and X-Rays systems.
  • Knowledge of system designs and management.
  • Demonstrated experience as a manager of engineers.
  • Previous military service / experience.
  • Good written and verbal English.
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining RF Communications Networks
  • Knowledge of VHF/UHF and HF Analogue and Digital communication using commercial frequencies and equipment.


  • Licence Application Knowledge
  • Spectrum Management experience.
  • Yeoman or Forman of Signals.
  • Understanding of VSAT technologies.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and security principles.
  • Understanding of satellite tracking systems.
