This is a great HR opportunity in a unique environment!

G4S Custody & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre, a number of community contracts in England and Wales and we are currently mobilising a brand new prison. The philosophy of our establishments is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which our employees and residents feel safe and secure. Our success is underpinned by the way we lead and engage with our people.

Reporting to the remote HR Business Partner, we are looking for an HR Business Advisor to join us based at Oakhill STC, a Secure Training Centre that works closely with the Youth Custody Service.  We look after children aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody.

As the onsite HR Advisor, you will provide professional advice, guidance and support to operational and line management, bringing consistency and best practice to ensure HR supports the delivery of local business objectives and provide people insight, advice and address any people risks.

You will possess extensive HR Advisor experience, supporting the teams in all HR matters. You will have a consultative and can do attitude, along with an understanding of employment law and current legislation. You will work collaboratively and openly whilst offering effective solutions for your business area.

The successful candidate will manage a small HR team to deliver a robust HR service and should possess excellent communication skills both written and oral alongside keen negotiation and influencing skills.

As an experienced HR Advisor, it is essential that you have experience of working within a multifunctional and demanding environment. You will be a dynamic and engaging individual with a good sense of humour, who shares our ethics and values and is eager to support the HR delivery and local management teams. A proven HR professional with professionalism and integrity, you will play an integral part to the CaRS HR team.

The Ideal Candidate:

In return, you can expect to be rewarded by receiving a competitive salary, holiday entitlement, life assurance, company pension, comprehensive training and career development.
