Role Overview
We are looking for a Soft Services Manager in Housekeeping and Catering to take day to day responsibility for ensuring that Houskeeping and Catering service delivery at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford is maintained within contractual parameters and G4S budgets.  You will manage, monitor and develop the service to the satisfaction of the SPV NHS Trust and G4S, using standards set by the company to ensure consistent delivery within agreed SLAs.


This role will have direct and indirect line management of staff, where your key responsibilities will include the management of a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year cleaning and domestic service and also a Catering sub-contractor. You will ensure HR and staff management such as absence, lateness and training requirements (for new starters and on an ongoing basis ensuring training materials are up to date in line with industry standards) are met.

You will need the ability to create and manage a Staff Rota to ensure all shifts are covered, shift patterns adhered too at all times and to provide solutions to planned and unplanned staff absenteeism. You will deal with performance and SLA issues for the team, setting SMART objectives and holding team meetings with your own team and any teams within G4S and the Trust where required.


You will work from daily reports to ensure job completion within agreed SLAs, create monthly performance data, conduct trend analysis, liaise with client representatives, ensure departmental compliance with Health and Safety and look to be constantly making improvements.


Site Overview
Churchill Hospital is a centre of excellence for cancer services and other specialties, including renal services and transplants, clinical and medical oncology, dermatology, haemophilia, chest medicine and palliative care.

In 2009 the hospital saw a major new development consisting of an integrated cancer and haematology Centre, a surgery and diagnostics centre and the Wytham Wing – housing the Wytham Ward (transplants) and private outpatients.

G4S FM deliver the following services and employs circa 200 staff: Helpdesk, Patient and Retail Catering, Cleaning, Portering, Planned and Reactive Maintenance, Lifecycle Replacement, Grounds Maintenance and Pest Control.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Manager / Team Leader or Supervisor
  • Sound knowledge of CAFM systems
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Strong IT skills
  • A strong focus on FM / Property support in the FM environment


Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of working in an NHS environment
  • Certificate in Management Level 3
  • Customer Service Level 2 or above


This role is for 40 hours per week over 5 days, but a flexible approach is essential as the successful candidate must be prepared to cover all shift patterns including weekends and Bank Holidays and participate in On Call Duties (1 in 9)
