Job Introduction:

Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the effective management of the Health and Safety objectives of the company.

Role Responsibility:

Main Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Managing Director and HR Director, the main purpose of this position will be but not limited to manage an effective Safety and Health Environment and Quality assurance process for G4S Namibia, focusing on implementing Group, Regional and National health and safety strategies embedded to a zero harm culture and continuous improvement on quality standards.

Principle Accountabilities

 Manage and review G4S HSE Quality Management System (QMS)

 Implement and review the Quality Management System on an annual basis to ensure it meets national accreditation requirements.
 Ensure that the Quality systems is benchmarked against recognized Quality Management Standards.
 Identify and manage any quality systems risks that impact on G4S.
 Generate and present reports on QMS system.
 Liaise with external accreditation body and internal stakeholders.

Plan and manage internal quality audit process

 Ensure a yearly audit schedule is compiled.
 Manage the communication of audit dates, audit scope and procedures to required departments.
 Manage the audits on regional and national level.
 Ensure agreement on audit findings.
 Ensure the publication of audit results with proposed corrective action plan.
 Conduct meeting reviews/closing meetings with all levels of management after audit completion.
 Ensure the monitor and implementation of corrective action plans nationally.

Manage ISO certification process

 Ensure certification processes and external audits are facilitated within G4S locations nationally.
 Implement national tracking process to review results both during and after each audit.
 Ensure national corrective action plan drafted based on regional input with recommendations with regard to corrective action follow-up strategies made.
 Ensure timeous and accurate communication to customers.
 Manage the process to ensure the meeting of certification deadlines.

Implement and manage SHE for G4S nationally

 Refine, customize and implement Group SHE policy and strategy for G4S Namibia businesses.
 Design, develop and review national SHE policies, standards and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
 Design, develop and review SHE Management system for G4S nationally.
 Design, develop and review and track progress of SHE action plans.
 Design, develop and maintain a national SHE audit programme to ensure standards are maintained.
 Generate and present reports for the national SHEQ meetings.
 Ensure all SHE registrations, permits and licenses applied for and up-to- date.
 Develop and ensure implementation of SHE Training programme.
 Ensure reporting of incidents to relevant regulatory authorities. Design, develop and maintain appropriate emergency plans and Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
 Provide support to departmental managers and staff on the interpretation & implementation of systems.
 Provide training on Health and Safety and Quality Systems to the business (if required).

Drive, Embed and Improve on Health and Safety culture within G4S

 Conduct regular SHE internal audits and training sessions with regional operational teams.
 Escalate areas of repeated deficiency and non-conformance to management.
 Co-ordinate the investigation of serious incidents where failure to adhere to SHE policies has resulted in injury or death.
 Chair SHE committee meetings to review findings of audits, reports and investigations.
 Highlight and escalate risks to management from non-compliance and failure to adhere to SHE policies and procedures.
 Conduct regular inspection of work places premises in order to determine compliance with safety regulations.

Manage the budget/expenses

 Draft up a SHEQ budget and check, analyze and explain major variances to budget on a monthly basis.

Staff Management and development

 Ensure that all employees have clearly defined job profiles and performance contracts aligned to SHEQ.
 Provide continuous SHEQ support, coaching (train) and mentoring of management and safety committee to ensure that SHEQ objectives are met.
 Ensure and arrange for the allocation of appropriate required resources, equipment and or PPE to ensure that operational demands are met.

Health and Safety

 Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national annual safety plans.
 Ensure that there are ongoing safety forums for example safety meeting safety talks, safety stand downs and safety topic etc.
 Report and discuss all safety incidents to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
 Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
 Attend safety education and refresher programmes.
 Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace.
 Distribute safety information as and when required.
 Wear protective clothing all the time.
 Constantly ensure, enforce and communicate Covid-19 regulations and preventative measures to all staff and report non compliances and non adherences to respective management.



The Ideal Candidate:

Required Qualification and Experience

 Relevant SHEQ assurance qualification or equivalent.
 SAMTRAC or equivalent qualification.
 A minimum of 5 years’ experience in SHE environment and Quality Assurance.
 Previous security industry operations experience would be an advantage.
 Project Management experience.
 Conducting Quality, Health, Safety and Environment audits experience.

Required skills and Knowledge

 Hazard Identification and Risk assessments knowledge.
 Substantial health & safety knowledge in a multiple site working environment.
 Accident investigations, audits, inspections and risk assessments.
 Strong at building working relationships with key stakeholders across all levels
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and other computer systems i.e. Google Chrome
 Highly self-motivated individual with prioritization skills.
 Demonstrates self-management when under pressure and in demanding situations.
 Creative and engaging presentation skills.
 Leading people’s leadership skills.
