Churchill Hospital is a centre of excellence for cancer services and other specialties, including renal services and transplants, clinical and medical oncology, dermatology, haemophilia, chest medicine and palliative care. 

 

In 2009 the hospital saw a major new development consisting of an integrated cancer and haematology Centre, a surgery and diagnostics centre and the Wytham Wing – housing the Wytham Ward (transplants) and private outpatients. 

 

G4S FM delivers the following services and employs circa 200 staff: Helpdesk, Patient and Retail Catering, Cleaning, Portering, Planned and Reactive Maintenance, Lifecycle Replacement, Grounds Maintenance and Pest Control.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Head of Hard FM to join our team based at Churchill Hospital.

 

As the Head of Hard FM you will lead and implement the Hard Service provision, developing and implementing a robust delivery model and providing technical support and leadership for all disciplines within the M&E and the building fabric environment. Having a strong focus on ventilation systems, pressure systems, water safety management and both low and high voltage systems,

You will develop and mentor the estates team and ensure the correct management control process for all specialist contractors that work in conjunction with the in house team to ensure all systems are functioning within the required parameters for a modern hospital environment.  Ensuring all works are delivered to the required standards including health technical memorandum and technical notes and all health and safety legislation.

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

 

  • To deliver the hard FM services in compliance with legal and contractual requirement

  • To manage and control all hard FM services with advanced technical knowledge and solid background in all aspects of the M&E requirements including but not limited to:

                o Ventilation systems for critical areas

                o Pressure system

                o High and Low voltage systems

                o Lifts

                o Ground source heating systems and under floor heating

                o LTHW systems and water safety management

                o Planned Maintenance delivery via a CAFM system and handheld devices

                o Delivery of small works packages

  • Ensure that the budget is adhered to and all levels of expenditure are within the set divisional targets.

  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with all statutory requirements and corporate policies including, but not limited to, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance, and Employment Legislation as well as HTM/HBN requirements, where applicable.

  • To highlight at the earliest opportunity infrastructure issues to the Contract Director.

  • Develop business cases to support revenue and life cycle spending

  • Provide effective, professional management to both direct and indirect clients.

  • Recruit and develop the individuals and team to ensure the dynamics of the team meet the requirements of the contract

  • Maintain the highest standards of presentation, personal integrity and customer support. Support, lead and motivate the key managers within the client unit.

  • Manage the staff development and succession planning within contract to ensure opportunities are created and key personnel are retained and developed.

  • Actively contribute to development and delivery of the long term business aspirations of a long term PFI contract.

  • Ensure full understanding of any changes and development in legislation and working practices that may affect the company’s operations and/or present new opportunities.

  • Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.

  • Leadership – The ability to motivate and empower others in order to reach organisational goals.

  • Ensure that all Project works are completed in a timely and cost efficient manner, with all appropriate records updated and maintained accordingly.

  • Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with the contractual requirements, including communication and documentation requirements.

  • Ensure that all activity undertaken by the Estates services is in accordance with G4S policies and frameworks such as the G4S Safe Systems of Work and a suitable and sufficient audit record of all activities are recorded and maintained.


The Ideal Candidate:

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Detailed Knowledge of HTMs, HBN’s and their Operation/Function

  • Hard FM – knowledge and a solid background in Hard FM and Management.

  • Degree / HNC or equivalent in electrical mechanical or building services discipline

  • Previous FM managerial experience

  • Good Communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Numerate & commercially competent

  • Demonstrable Contractual/High degree of Commercial aptitude

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of CAFM systems

  • Competent in the use of computer packages.
