The general purpose and function of the Shift Supervisor encompasses the professional operation, administration, profitability, and quality assurance of uniformed services for a single shift at a G4S client’s site. The Shift Supervisor provides directions at assigned client sites on assigned shift; acts to ensure that post orders are followed, that established rounds are completed, and that adequate reports are filed, and that proper authorities and client are notified in emergency situations. The Shift Supervisor will counsel and discipline personnel as appropriate, seek advice from the Lead Shift Supervisor or designated representatives, meet personally with employees and documents counseling and disciplinary actions.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Oversee the staffing, scheduling, and on-site training for security officers assigned to his/her shift
  • Make recommendations for positive and negative personnel actions for those under his/her direct supervision
  • Assist in the training of Security Officers and review of client and security polices
  • Creating and implementing weekly Sector Schedules
  • Ensure all posts/shifts are covered within their assigned Sector
  • Submit schedules to Lead Shift Supervisor for approval
  • Assist in the submission of payroll and personnel information to the company as designated
  • Assist officers in completing payroll discrepancy forms and getting them submitted to the Scheduling/Payroll Specialist
  • Ensure adequate security coverage of all posts
  • Prepare files and submits various reports 
  • Inspect posts as scheduled and meets with subordinates to outline tasks and responsibilities
  • Meet with Lead Shift Supervisor, Site Supervisor, Site Manager and/or client representatives as scheduled or as needed to provide assurance that all security requirements are being met and to provide quality customer service


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves, or National Guard
    • Service in the Auxiliary Police or Police Cadets
    • A minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience
    • Associate’s degree or higher in any discipline

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:         Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:        Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:      Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching.
