The GSOC Operator is responsible for using security best practices to identify, analyze, and support all events and incidents that impact or potentially could impact client operations, facilities, and employees. The Operator must possess critical thinking skills, be detail oriented, and be a problem solver. The ability to multi-task, set priorities and work independently is essential. The Security Operator is responsible for monitoring multiple security network systems to coordinate responses to all safety and security incidents. In addition to monitoring security systems, the Security Operator is required to properly provide timely and accurate reports/information to Security Management of all life safety events, dispatch security operators, and guide and assist business clients during emergency and non-emergency events. Due to the frequent personal and telephonic interface with clients, the position requires solid oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaison between clients and the Security Operations team.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Monitor all security, communications, and fire/life safety systems within the designated region via the provided monitoring systems
  • Proactively monitor all surveillance cameras, and CCTV remote viewer programs; monitors and responds to all security/life safety system alarms
  • Provide timely and accurate reports/information to Security Management of all life safety events, dispatch security operators
  • Guide and assist business clients during emergency and non-emergency event
  • Monitor and control removal of company and personal property
  • Access control; permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits
  • Notify the appropriate personnel in an emergency; sound alarms or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Notify, direct, and assist emergency personnel in the event of an emergency 
  • Direct visitors to the appropriate areas; provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Report all building utility/ service issues as observed and instructed to facilities

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass any State-required training and any other qualifications for licensing

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Work history must demonstrate solid oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:         Office; Indoor; minimal to no exposure to extreme cold and heat is expected

Major Activity:        Working on PC while sitting; telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Limited, to include some standing, bending, light maneuvering, and limited stretching and reaching.
