The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for an Operations Fleet Manager.  The Operations Fleet Manager effectively manages, maintains, and drives improvements in the operational and company car vehicle fleet program. The Manager will ensure all vehicles are properly equipped and maintained, are effective in meeting the purpose for which they are required, and manage/reduce operating costs across the fleet. This position will safe guard the Operator’s and customer’s interests by ensuring that the business and vehicle fleet is legally and legislatively compliant in its operation.

The Operations Fleet Manager works internally with G4S employees at all levels throughout the North American and Group and other G4S companies as required, and externally works with suppliers, consultants, local authorities, trade associations, and state/federal government bodies.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Manage the day to day operation of entire vehicle fleet, ensuring that the business is legally compliant and cost effective with maximum vehicle availability
  • Act as the primary operational contact point for all Fleet related product and services; manage appointed contractors, ensuring performance indicators are met and consistent, and compliant services are delivered across the region
  • Work closely with local and regional offices, Group Procurement, and risk and legal to identify, implement, and monitor cost reduction initiative to reduce fleet operational cost over time
  • Lead, manage, and develop direct reports; embed a culture of operational excellence and best practice, maximizing individual strengths and developing talent
  • Manage documentation, ensuring it is accurately processed and disseminated so that relevant stakeholders are informed promptly and legislative requirements are met
  • Investigate vehicle safety and security related issues and incidents, ensuring that satisfactory solutions are instigated and implemented within agreed timescales
  • Implement and update all legislative and legal compliance process throughout the region
  • Investigate and examine vehicle accidents and warranty claims identifying trends and implement measures to reduce and prevent future reoccurrences
  • Consolidate, monitor, and manage fuel usage data to ensure maximum cost effective utilization is achieved across all businesses
  • Consolidate monitor and manage fleet leasing costs to ensure maximum cost effective utilization is achieved across all businesses
  • Ensure all drivers have and maintain all appropriate licenses 
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and agencies to ensure the coordination and support of all vehicle related issues of fleet management are achieved
  • Monitor Fleet KPIs and ensure company policies and procedures are applied regionally

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related field
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of  experience and professional competence in fleet management

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • If previously employed, meaningful and verifiable work history
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Fleet specialism qualification in mechanics or fleet management
    • Participation in fleet association or professional body (ex: NAFA)

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of Fleet Operations and relevant legislation
  • Must have the ability to present effectively to all audience levels and able to network across the business
  • Must be able to influence, persuade, challenge key stakeholders at senior levels, building and maintaining professional relationships
  • Must be a highly motivated individual with a strong desire to learn
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:         Office;  minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures expected

Major activity:        Working on PC while sitting; telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:      Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching, and reaching
