As a Fire Security Specialist, you will perform a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing and implementing fire prevention, suppression and emergency medical services to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and emergency medical conditions.

The Fire Security Specialist will reduce or eliminate fire hazards and respond to confined space incidents, EMS incidents, and hazardous materials incidents. This position will oversee and ensure accuracy of inspections to align compliance with State, Local and NFPA codes and standards

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Physically inspect all fire suppression systems
  • Interface with and provide technical fire prevention/ protection guidance to appropriated personnel
  • Document and record in the fire audit program all fire hazards detailed in the Fire Safety Audit Standards
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair duties in support of facility Fire Protection initiatives
  • Assist/Support Insurance Underwriter's Audit/Assessment
  • Coordinate and schedule monthly shop inspections with client representative, and work with Fire Maintenance and Repair contractor as site representative
  • Maintain Evacuation maps
  • Complete fire system inspections and testing and report all deficiencies
  • Coordinate all fire equipment inspection/ certification activities on site with the Site Coordinator/ Manager of Fire Prevention and Protection, assures all records are maintained and in compliance with the required standards
  • Host Fire Service tours, orientations, and exercises, meet monthly with local Fire Service
  • Operate drone surveillance system, and maintain required licenses and permits
  • Coordinate all impairments to fire protection systems and/or equipment to ensure that they are handled promptly and correctly; assure all records are maintained and in compliance with required standards
  • Participate in pre-emergency planning and assists in the implementation of the emergency plans with both facilities and outside emergency organizations; coordinate fire department visits to the facility
  • Lead AED and CPR training
  • Attend meetings with plant management, engineering, quality assurance personnel and others regarding general inquiries from plant personnel to ensure proper fire prevention and protection requirements during new construction, planned renovations and demolition
  • Supervise, approve, inspect: all hot works and high hazard hot works, confined space
  • Act as a weather spotter and monitor weather alerts through client approved systems.
  • Coordinate and respond as required for daily fire/rescue and Hazmat responses


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fire Science, Fire Prevention, or a related field
    • Five (5) years of experience in fire prevention/ protection

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of security experience or equivalent education in protective service

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Post offer, must remain current with governmental regulations pertaining to fire prevention/ protection and emergency response planning
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment:  Mostly indoor with minimal outdoor exposure to extreme cold/heat.

Major activity:  Standing, speaking, walking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, sitting, with minimal and kneeling
