Job Introduction:

We are seeking a motivated security and political risk analyst to join G4S Risk Consulting’s Intelligence and Advisory Services (IAS) team, based in London for a minimum 12 month term. The role will primarily support a large-scale transnational oil and gas construction project, working with a dedicated project team to provide comprehensive security consultancy support.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in covering security threats primarily in Afghanistan and Pakistan for governmental or commercial entities, and/or has the ability to cultivate, contacts in country to provide a deep intelligence picture. You must have a broad understanding of the regional security environment and the drivers of insecurity. The role will also support business development in Afghanistan.

 

You will also understand the management and coordination of complex research projects. You will ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products and coordinate with line and project managers with regard to both assessments and business development.


Role Responsibility:

1. Delivery:

  • Threat and Risk Assessments of the security and political environment in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This will also encompasses broader regional security developments and threats to the oil and gas sector.
  • Contribute to daily/weekly/monthly briefs and analytical products, as well as supplementary projects, as required.
  • Ad-hoc assessments/summaries for G4S RC clients and online platforms as directed by line manager
  • Thorough, accurate, timely and actionable analysis of retrieved information, verification and presentation in report form to G4S consultants and clients
  • Quality control of IAS products and services to include revision and formatting of complex documents to a high standard and one that can be understood by non-specialist or non-English readers without compromising the integrity of technical writing on complex subjects
  • Project manage complex tasks and projects
  • Efficient production of work to agreed schedules
  • Effective planning and delivery of client tasks
  • Initiate thought leadership
  • Expertise in country and/or regional security and political affairs, established as a ‘go-to’ authority
  • Effective management of subcontractor and stringer resources
  • Develop and maintain information sources, including networks of in-country sources
  • Creative and thorough retrieval of information using a broad range of online, printed and human sources.

Business Support

  • Provide research, analytical, bid and project support to IAS and G4S RC
  • Support and advise other analysts where required, providing constructive feedback for work
  • Monitoring portals and emails for requests, managing and responding to platform alerts and website requests
  • Maintain accurate IAS administration for personal, department and company documentation.

Business Development

  • Active in product development
  • Through market research identify business opportunities for the company and department
  • Active monitoring of industry and competitor intelligence
  • Conduct promotional talks, demonstrations and meetings
  • Attend client or prospective client meetings as a subject-matter expert.


The Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Educated to at least Masters degree level in a relevant subject-matter such as international relations or security studies or equivalent experience
  • Eligible to work within the UK

Desirable

  • Security Risk Management Level 4 City & Guilds

Experience:

Essential

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a political risk/security risk/intelligence analyst in a commercial organisation or public sector body
  • Experience in covering security threats primarily in Afghanistan and Pakistan for governmental or commercial entities.
  • A broad understanding of the regional security environment and the drivers of insecurity
  • Possesses or has the ability to cultivate contacts in country to provide a deep intelligence picture
  • Experience in an analyst role within a risk consulting or security company/military
  • Demonstrable experience of collaboration across inter-company business entities and external companies
  • Able to demonstrate the delivery of accurate, timely and actionable analysis
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of the business sectors G4S RC works within, for example government departments, insurance sector, non-governmental organisations or the energy industry

Desirable

  • Possesses or has the ability to cultivate contacts in country to provide a deep intelligence picture
  • Ability to conduct research in Dari, Pashto or Urdu
  • Experience within the oil and gas sector
  • Experience of senior responsibility within a risk consulting or security company
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of security risk management consulting sector
