With the expected opening in early 2022, a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future; HMP Five Wells will be an integral part of the local community.

G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.

Reporting to the FM Soft Services Supervisor, we are looking for a number of full time Escort and Stores Officers to join our FM team to Escort and Control the contractor/visitor movements across the prison estate.  This role will also be responsible for meeting the Ordering Process of the Stores area for the entire secure estate, ensuring that all supplies and stock are readily available.  You will also work closely with prisoners.

Initially, you will support the operational mobilisation of the Prison, and then move into the role after successful mobilisation In February 2022.

 Key Responsibilities of this role

  • Deal effectively and safely with contractor / visitor movements to maintain Health & Safety requirements
  • Assisting in the development of contractor control procedure routines, processes, risk assessments, and records. 
  • Working with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance staff if required in aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.
  • Security awareness within a prison environment in respect to key locking and tool control when escorting maintenance contractors within the prison estate.
  • Carry out routine inspections of the contractor works to make sure that all safety guidance and practises are followed to maintain an effective and efficient safe environment. 
  • keep the stores area in an orderly and effective manner
  • To anticipate needs of FM team in relation to stores provision
  • Ensure security and safe storage of hazardous substances and materials & Safe working Methods
  • Keep an up to date stores inventory
  • Liaison with Security to record any key changes
  • Support the FM Helpdesk
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure appropriate delivery of stock
