G4S is a large and diverse company with operations in over 100 countries and more than 610,000 employees worldwide, G4S is a truly unique company who are bigger, more diverse and involved in more fascinating, innovative projects than many people would imagine and we now have an opportunity for an Equalities Manager to join our team at HMP & YOI Parc, a category B prison, in Bridgend, South Wales, currently holding over 1600 men and young people in a secure but modern environment.
The Equalities Manager will aim to reduce discrimination in any form in HMP Parc under the Protected Characteristics by promoting Equality, providing training and guidance, investigating incidents of discrimination, ensuring compliance with national policies and audits and promoting good relations and practices towards different minority groups. The Equalities Manager will also provide Management oversight of a team of Equalities staff ensuring effective supervision and management processes.
- Work with community groups and services to promote Equality
- Manage a team of Equality support workers
- Investigating fully all Discrimination Incident reports
- Delivering Equality workshops to offenders and staff advising of the effects of discrimination
- Development, monitoring and review of policies and strategies ensuring compliance with National Offender Management guidelines and legislation
- Maintaining and analysing data and statistics
- Producing details reports on Equality under all Protected Characteristics
- Promoting the needs of members of Ethnic minority groups, LGBT community, transgender community and those affected by Race, Religion, Age and Disability
- Raising awareness and promoting change
- Preparing publicity materials and displays
- Preparing and monitoring action plans
- Research, apply and promote Equality initiatives
- Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation
- Translate legislation to Policy
- Oversee the custodial policies for Foreign National Prisoners
The Ideal Candidate:
- GCSE English & Maths or equivalent
- IT literate, able to use Word, Excel and database software
- Knowledge and understanding of Equality issues and legislation
- Previous experience in this field is essential
- Previous managerial experience
