The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of environmental health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices. This position requires constant presence within facilities to ensure best safety practices are being implemented. The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator partners with the internal and external stakeholders to create and maintain a safe workplace, and will provide support for a wide range of EH&S services.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of EH&S regulations, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements including OSHA, DOT, and EPA
  • Assist in organizing, monitoring, and reporting on various programs, such as Emergency Response Program, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, and Global Regulatory Compliance
  • Actively involvement as a member of the on-site Employee Emergency Response Team (EERT) and support tracking of EERT membership/meetings and supplies for all locations.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor workplace hazards including but not limited to, chemical, physical, and biological
  • Recommend improvements to minimize hazard potential, and work with area personnel to find reasonable methods to implement improvements
  • Conduct regular audits and job hazard analysis to identify facility and jobsite hazards and risks to prevent injuries, spills, or other H&S impacts, and to ensure compliance with customer-specific safety, environmental standards, and government regulations
  • Assist with accident and incident investigation to identify the root cause and prevent reoccurrence
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corrections to remedy incidents
  • Manage and assist with coordination, development, and delivery of EH&S related training and education programs for employees, either virtually or in person
  • Train and assist Account Managers, EERT members, Safety Committee, and others to complete audits, behavior-based safety reviews, team meetings, etc.
  • Arrange and plan drills and training for the improvement of EERT/Safety Committee; contribute to and serve as an active lead participant on the company’s EERT
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding the management of worker’s compensation cases
  • Review EH&S reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and completion
  • Assist in developing and implementing written environmental, health and safety programs, tools and materials
  • Maintain positive relationships with EH&S regulatory agencies, managing permits, regulatory inspections, and incident reporting
  • Partner with various site departments, including Facilities and Human Resources
  • Support corporate EH&S initiatives, including EH&S metrics reporting and audits
  • EH&S documentation and recordkeeping
  • Recommend approaches to create safer processes and continuous improvement
  • Tracks regulatory changes relating to all EHS-related matters and makes recommendations as applicable

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Safety, or a closely related field

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an Environmental Health & Safety related field
  • Must have experience Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
  • Must possess experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace
  • Must currently possess CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in Worker’s Compensation case management

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must possess strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
  • Must be able to communicate health and safety needs throughout all levels of the organization
  • Must possess a calm demeanor in emergency situations
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment:         Office; minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected

Major activity:        Working on PC while sitting

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching
