Role Responsibility:

This role and contract sit within our Facilities Management sector of G4S where we aim to improve the lives of people across the UK and Ireland by creating productive, safe and smooth working environments.

We are actively seeking to recruit an Electrician to join our team on our Churchill Hospital contract to be based in Oxford, OX3 7LJ.  The hours of work are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, covering various shifts.

Job Summary:

As an Electrician, you will undertake electrical based Facilities Management on behalf of G4S.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Operate within planned maintenance procedures for effectively and safely.
  • Deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage.
  • Write up maintenance reports and technical procedures for Building Maintenance Activities.
  • Assist in the training and development of other maintenance/technical staff involved in site maintenance activities.
  • Diagnosing faults on Electrical support systems and rectify where necessary.
  • Following detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals in order to carry out all planned maintenance, routine inspections and reactive repairs.
  • Act as a HV / LV AP on site and undertake specialist works, including planning of these.
  • Act as a senior electrician and act as a H+S promoter.
  • Assisting in the development of maintenance routines, procedures, risk assessments, preparing and maintaining relevant technical records.
  • Working with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance staff to develop cross-skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.
  • Participate in emergency call out arrangements and provide cover where necessary during sickness absence periods.
  • Carry out maintenance activities to assist in project and improvement development works, offering alternatives to improve the effectiveness of the operation of the site.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Criteria:

To be successful for this role you will:

  • Be fully qualified and experienced within a Mechanical engineering discipline (Level 3 NVQ diploma in Mechanical services or equivalent).
  • Be qualified in 18th Edition (IET) Wiring Regulations.
  • Have experience of building and facilities maintenance.
  • Be HV/LV trained working towards AP status.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of BMS systems.
  • Periodic Inspection & Testing.
  • Electrical Safety & Part P.
  • Portable Appliance.
  • Testing (EAL or City & Guilds).
  • Full, Clean Driving Licence.
