We have an opportunity for an Electrical Installation Engineer to join our team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.

 

This is an exciting time to join the G4S Facilities Management Team at Hinkley Point C. We are three years into our ten year contract, working on the largest construction site in Europe. 

 

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

 

Construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities, up to 1,000 apprenticeships and 64% of the project’s construction value is predicted to go to UK companies. There are currently over 4,000 workers on site.

 

This is a full time role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 0800 - 1700. The salary for this role is £40,000 per annum.

 

As the Electrical Installation Engineer, you will be supporting the Operations and Project Manager in the delivery of fit out and building infrastructure alteration works. Working across a range of electrical installation projects including project inception and electrical design.  In addition to installation works the post holder will be required to support the team of electricians with general planned and reactive maintenance as part of the core service delivery to our HPC client.

 

 A fully qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer with 18 th Edition wiring regs and Inspection and Design is necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities of this role are:

 

  • Work as part of a project team to install containment, cable and circuits to support new buildings and projects

  • Design new installations with the aid of Amtech pro

  • Carry out EICR

  • Help coordinate works with the Operations and Project Manager liaising with the client and stakeholders

  • Operate planned maintenance procedures for assets effectively and safely within their range of qualifications, training and experience.

  • Deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage to assets within their range of qualifications, training and experience as required and by out of hours response where necessary.

  • Write up reports and technical procedures for Building Maintenance Activities.

  • Assist in the training and development of other maintenance/technical staff involved in site maintenance activities.

  • Maintain inspection and repairs to various types of heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and security etc. equipment and services on site.

  • Diagnose faults on all mechanical and electrical support systems and rectify where necessary within levels of competence.

  • Follow detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals in order to carry out all planned maintenance, routine inspections and repairs.

  • Work with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance staff to develop cross-skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.

  • Participate in emergency call out arrangements in respect of Integrated Facilities Management Systems on the maintained sites.

  • Operate on a fixed site basis for a defined period, to assist in project/development work or to cover for an absent site manager/engineer.


The Ideal Candidate:

 

Essential Requirements are:

 

  • Fully qualified and experienced Electrician

  • Experience of building and facilities maintenance

  • 18 th Edition wiring Regs

  • C&G 2360/2330 NVQ

  • Level 3 or equivalent

  • C&G 2396 Level 4

  • Design and Verification of Electrical Installations or equivalent

  • Full, clean driving licence
