As a Human Resources Director, you will be responsible for supporting the Market in employee hiring and onboarding, employee relations and development, investigations support to the discipline/grievance process, personnel records, background screening, group insurance administration and monthly reconciliation, Workers’ Compensation, unemployment claims, Affirmative Action planning, and leave of absence. The Director, Human Resources is also responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable federal, state and local laws.

The Director, Human Resources will be based in Markets exceeding 100 million dollars in annual revenue. This position will assist the Region’s Vice President, Human Resources in setting strategy recruiting, training, and human resources for the Region as well as maintains primary responsibility for this function in their respective Market.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager and Labor scheduling on new hire availability, qualifications and current/future demand
  • Ensure Recruiting Specialist has knowledge of open positions and Job Description for open positions and has been trained to maximize his or her effectiveness in filling those positions
  • Identify staffing needs for the local office
  • Monitor and track candidates received, interviewed, and hired against open positions
  • Administer leaves of absence, FMLA, PTO, etc.; Employee Relations activity, disciplinary actions; Comp Stat participation; Implementing Customer transitions; Workers Comp management; Unemployment claims management, and employee records changes in PeopleSoft
  • Work with G4S Managers to ensure they maximize all opportunities and use all tools available for employee retention and development
  • Ensure compliance with company HR policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws
  • Attend weekly meetings with the General Manager, Shared Services Management and Operations Management to align organizational goals and targets
  • Take complaints concerning discrimination, sexual harassment, and workplace harassment and provide investigative assistance when necessary in such matters; provide guidance and support for supervision concerning employee relations and disciplinary action
  • Conduct Recruiting Specialist and Human Resources Specialist training and development
  • Identify, in coordination with the GM, opportunities for employee retention and development
  • Ensure that employee appraisals are conducted correctly and in compliance with the annual schedule
  • Ensure that managers are engaged in Performance Management with their employees
  • Affirmative Action Program compliance and planning.  Oversight of all recruiting, selection, and placement processes.  Implement corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure overall contract compliance regarding employee basic and preferred qualifications, screening, training, and licensing

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Public Relations, Business, or related degree combined with 1 year of Human Resources management/supervisory experience
    • Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Public Relations, Business, or related degree combined with 3 years of Human Resources management/supervisory experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent combined with 5 years of Human Resources management/supervisory experience

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Work history must include:
    • Sound understanding of personnel and compliance records management
    • Sound understanding of policy interpretation and implementation
    • Strong ability to maintain a professional workforce and assisting in the recruitment and staffing of the organization
    • Strong consultative, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership
    • Ability to manage the performance review process and assist other management positions in completing performance reviews

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:         Office; minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected

Major Activity:        Working on PC while sitting, telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching.
