An exciting opportunity to join an established project in Somerset. Managed and coordinated road freight deliveries to and from the Hinkley Point C construction site are essential for the successful construction of the project.  Our specialist team manage these deliveries via a bespoke Delivery Management System (DMS).

 

The primary role of the DMS Lead is to train, mentor and lead this specialist team in the usage of this system and booking-on procedures, in conjunction with ensuring smooth and compliant movement of freight to and from the Off-site Freight Management Facility to the South Plaza Delivery Reception at Hinkley Point C.

 

As DMS Lead you will liaise directly with our Client, Contractor Partners and other Stakeholders to ensure freight deliveries are compliant with the conditions detailed in the Development Consent Order and such deliveries are successfully managed to the project.

Pay: Salaried - £35k 
Hours: 40 hours per week, Office Hours

Key Responsibilities

        Lead DMS operations, freight management and booking procedures

        Line manage three DMS Coordinators and operationally control the DMS team

        Maintain, develop and deliver the DMS operator training plan

        Deliver DMS training to our Tier 1 contractor partners in order to qualify them as competent DMS operators and coordinators

        Remain competent and qualified in all aspects of the DMS system by liaising with the system delivery partner and client organisation

        Attend specialised training courses to remain competent on the system

        Conduct regular assurance activities to ensure system and regulation compliance

        Record all training information using company IT and ensure that all individual training records are kept up to date

        Report all non-conformances and provide statistical data when required

Educational Requirements/Qualifications

 

        A good standard of education in Maths, English and IT.


Preferred Experience

 

        A logistics background is preferred

        Previous experience of line management and supervision

        Experience of working in a highly regulated environment to satisfy a range of complex project requirements  is essential

        They will have exceptional people skills and the ability to present ideas;

        A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required;

        The DMS Lead will enjoy working in a challenging environment, will be able to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, will be able to remain calm and professional under pressure and will enjoy finding solutions to complex and time critical situations;

        Experience of successfully engaging management and groups of stakeholders.

        Able to demonstrate strong management skills including supervision, line management and providing disciplinary feedback to team members and drivers.

        A good standard of education in Maths, English and IT.

Specific occupational requirements

        A formal training qualification is essential to enable the delivery of training

        SIA licence is desirable but not essential

        Ability to pass and hold National Security Clearance Vetting

        UK Driving License is essential
