In this position, your responsibilities will include monitoring the Control Center life safety systems and the on-line building systems while taking appropriate action to keep all systems running smoothly. You must respond to emergency calls and emergency requests for service, coordinate the activities of security officers, and be capable of performing all technician functions with a high level of expertise. You will be in contact with all levels of employees and/or customers. In addition, this position has a direct impact on continued company operations.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Monitor and respond to a variety of systems supporting the Control Center; maintain current knowledge of client security equipment and practices; respond to life safety and intrusion alarms from all monitored offices, local and field
  • Monitor and solve basic system problems
  • Gather information from incidents and put that information into the appropriate forms; escalate incident response as needed
  • Monitor all systems and respond as needed to include local systems and systems at other locations
  • Dispatch Security Officers and Law Enforcement in response to alarms and incidents; complete incident reports
  • Instruct new personnel on systems and provide refresher training when needed

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a security control/command center environment

Skills Required

  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Must have effective oral and written communication
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Must be able to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Must be able to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Must be able to write informatively, clearly and accurately
  • Must be able to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the State, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
  • Upon acceptance of a job offer, must be able to pass the following:
    • MMPI - Psychological testing, if armed or otherwise required
    • Physical exam, if armed or required by client contract
