Role Responsibility:

Salary £80,000 FTE

20 hours per week (Shifts: 2-3 days a week, Monday - Friday)

The nature of the role may require the individual to work later than 17.30 on some occasions to complete examinations, this can be claimed as extra hours or
time taken in lieu.

About our Site

G4S Health Services has been one of the leading providers to all justice health environments since 2005. Working across Secure, Custody and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC) across the UK, we provide primary care and forensic healthcare to a wide range of patients.

A Sexual Assault Referral Centre is a dedicated centre providing a comprehensive service to men, women and children who have suffered sexual assault, both for those who wish to involve the Police and those who self-refer.  Utilising a multi-disciplinary team of Doctors, Nurses, Crisis Workers, Police Officers and support staff the SARC will provide crisis support, appropriate facilities and trained staff for completion of forensic medical examination, provision and advice regarding aftercare including emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, as well as facilitating counselling and ongoing support via third sector agencies and Independent Sexual Violence Advisors.


Job Outline:
● To provide Clinical Leadership and effective Clinical Governance within the SARC Service in Dorset, and share good practice with the wider G4S Health

● To work with the SARC manager to deliver clinical governance activity in order to maintain quality and standards and facilitate the development of the
SOE team’s knowledge and experience.
● To provide acute forensic examinations alongside the hospital Paediatrician for 13 and under victims of rape and sexual assault, in accordance with G4S
Health, FFLM and GMC guidelines and code of conduct.
● To provide acute forensic examinations for any SARC clients aged 14 and over in accordance with G4S Health, FFLM and GMC guidelines and code of
● To assist in the clinical management of the SARC Services in line with national SARC Best Practice and CQC regulation
● To deliver services within the NHSE contractual obligations



Whats involved:

  • To work alongside the SARC Manager to deliver clinical governance activity for the SARC Service, ensuring quality and standards of the Sexual Offence Examiners (SOE) team
  • To deliver training and supervise practice of Trainee SOE’s to include shadowing, competency assessment, case reviews and final sign-off.
  • To contribute to the planning and delivery of a training and development programme for SOEs particularly in the examination of under 18’s.
  • To fulfil the role of educational supervisor for SOEs undertaking the ASET in advanced Forensic Practice or FFLM LSOM examinations
  • To deliver regular Peer Review and Supervision sessions to the SOE team to facilitate them attending at least quarterly.
  • To peer review statements as requested written by the SOE’s, bearing contractual obligations in mind
  • To provide telephone support and clinical advice to SOE’s
  • To investigate Clinical Incidents and Complaints
  • To undertake Clinical Audits
  • To update and contribute to the writing of SOE Clinical Policies and Procedures
  • To contribute to the development of SARC Clinical services
  • To be involved in the recruitment of SOE’s
  • To carry out forensic examinations of 13 and under clients alongside the local Paediatrician, in accordance with G4S Health, FFLM and GMC guidelines
  • To carry out acute forensic examinations independently for any SARC clients aged 14 year and over in accordance with G4S Health, FFLM and GMC guidelines and code of conduct.
  • To attend local and national Clinical Governance Meetings
  • Participate in multi-agency partnership working, establishing links with stakeholders and clear referral pathways.
  • To work collaboratively with the Poole Hospital Paediatric Team to develop the Paediatric service and referral pathways
  • To treat all SARC clients with courtesy, consideration, care and respect and give appropriate care and treatment in accordance with best practice.
  • To work with and liaise with the Crisis Worker and Specially trained officer to ensure that the client feels in control and the service is tailored to their needs.
  • To complete all documentation as per local guidelines including a FFLM Proforma and an Aftercare Form, and store securely as per local guidelines.
  • To complete written Police witness statements within contractual obligations or as soon as practically possible, when requested by G4S Health.
  • To attend court when requested to as a professional witness
  • To adhere to policies and procedures produced by G4S Health and the SARC.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times, adhering to data protection and maintaining Caldicott Guidelines at all times
  • To attend local and national Clinical Governance Meetings
  • To attend Commissioner meetings as requested
  • Participate in multi-agency partnership working, establishing links with stakeholders and clear referral pathways.
  • Participate in bi annual Employee Development Review (EDR).
  • Carry out any reasonable request from your Line Manager.

All Sexual Offence Examiners - Doctors providing services under this contract are deemed to practice as independent medical professionals exercising independent clinical judgement.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills as an SOE Doctor: 

  • GMC Registered with a license to practice
  • Experienced Sexual Offence Examiner with 4 years in PSOM
  • FFLM LSOM/ DFCASA or equivalent
  • Experience of Clinical Governance Processes
  • Teaching/Presenting Training Experience
  • Excellent Safeguarding knowledge and understanding
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure
  • Medical Indemnity
  • Access to own transport and Driving License


 Desirable Skills: 

  • Leadership and Management Experience
  • MRCPCH/FRCPCH or equivalent

This role requires the ability to work with vulnerable people in a caring and compassionate way. A DBS check and relevant police/ prison clearance will be required to exclude any individuals with a history of behaviour which could be considered unacceptable (by G4S or the clients).
