This role will be exciting, challenging, fast paced and diverse - it is a newly created role within G4S Health Services Ltd Governance Team. The Clinical
Governance Facilitator will help to drive the G4S Health Services governance agenda through continuous quality improvement; compliance with national
guidelines, regulations, and contractual requirements; and robust risk management. The task will be to promote the clinical governance agenda within a
directorate of the business. Working closely with teams, professional leads and managers to ensure broad understanding and ownership.
The Clinical Governance Facilitator will work with teams across the local, regional, and corporate levels, under the direction of the Head of Governance at
G4S Health services. The post holder will provide expert support in clinical audit, incident management, local risk management, learning lessons, and
clinical effectiveness. Ensuring that the best standards of practice are delivered maintained and continuously improved within the G4S’s clinical
- To promote the clinical governance agenda within a directorate of the business. In particular to ensure a focus on quality improvement (QI) and learning throughout the directorate.
- The post holder will provide expert support in clinical audit, incident management, local risk management, learning lessons, and clinical effectiveness. Ensuring that the best standards of practice are delivered maintained and continuously improved within the G4S’s clinical governance framework.
- To lead on elements of G4S Health Services wide governance projects.
- The post holder will be expected to travel to G4S Health Services sites regionally and nationally on regular basis.
- Ensure that robust and integrated governance arrangements are in place, in line with best practice across the directorate.
- Design and deliver governance and clinical audit projects using research methodology in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to improve performance, quality and safety.
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative data resulting from governance and clinical audit projects
- Ensure compliance and regulatory actions are appropriately completed and monitored where identified.
- Ensure recommendations from investigations are appropriately completed and monitored where identified.
- Develop, implement, assure, monitor and report on action plans on a range of governance and clinical audit project, plans, programmes and initiatives at directorate and team level.
- Ensure recommendations arising local and national clinical governance projects, clinical audits, serious untoward incidents, complaints and review by external bodies, including the CQC, are robust, monitored and implemented to demonstrate quality improvement.
- Support investigations where required into serious untoward incidents and complaints including participation in clinical reviews. To support the relevant teams to disseminate the lessons learnt to all staff within the business.
- Implement and audit compliance with national and local clinical standards and guidelines including NICE guidelines in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
- Support the development and implementation of G4S Health Services policies, procedures and good practice guidelines based on a range of current evidence and good practice including results of clinical audit and clinical governance projects.
- Work and liaise with other members of the Governance team to ensure best practice is shared and consistent support is provided.
- Maintain, with high accuracy, G4S Health Services governance systems and databases. This includes information regarding incidents, risks, alerts, actions, clinical audit activity, NICE guidelines, patient’s questionnaires, service evaluations, compliance checklists and quality improvement projects.
- Analyse and synthesise data from a variety of sources to prepare complex reports, papers, information and other documentary evidence for the business. This includes preparing reports for clinical governance related reviews and visits.
- Facilitate and advise at directorate level and local clinical governance committee meetings as required including, improving their clinical governance processes and initiating and following up on action plans to be undertaken by others.
- Complete admin duties as required, including organising meetings, preparing and distributing papers and reports and taking minutes. These may include formal minutes of the directorate and G4S clinical governance committee meetings, which need to be distributed widely and maybe included in external reviews.
- Design and coordinate good practice events within the directorate and to support business wide good practice events as required.
- Support the involvement of patients, carers and families/friends with clinical governance activities.
- Work alongside Directors, Heads of Services and Clinical Leads to ensure all governance requirements are met.
- Support and advise services on their risk registers, ensuring effective processes are in place to support and manage live risk registers.
- To provide specific expertise to all staff groups in clinical audit including the delivery o clinical audit training workshops.
- Design and coordinate clinical audit programmes, plans and strategies at a directorate level and ensure that they are carried out within agreed timescales. This will be in conjunction with managerial and/or clinical colleagues.
- Data entry/collection relating to clinical audit may include prolonged concentration for long periods depending on size and workload.
- Provide verbal and written progress reports regarding clinical audit projects as requested.
- To take on lead role where identified by the Head of Governance in relation to business overall governance responsibilities.
- Develop and provide overall project managements for business wide and directorate governance projects. This will include designing, carrying out, analysing, writing up, disseminating results and implementing recommendations.
- Ensure local and national elements of clinical governance, including reviews and investigations are integrated at directorate level to reflect a whole system approach and focus on learning lessons.

Education and Training

- Organise, promote and deliver regular governance and quality improvement training workshops (e.g. clinical audit, risk managements, alerts, NICE compliance, incidents management, QI, Investigations and Learning Lessons) taking into account directorate progress, national requirements and local audit recommendations. Training may be delivered via team meetings and away days when requested and on a one to one basis with clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Deliver training in relation to governance to reflect local need within the directorate and wider business.
- Promote awareness of clinical governance throughout the business including teaching briefing sessions, leaflets, newsletters, webinars, blog, social media, videos etc.
- Responsible for providing governance advice and support across a directorate with support from the wider governance team.
- Ensure updated mandatory training requirements are met and equipment training records are maintained
- Support G4S Health Services Quality Strategy, ensuring a focus on patient outcomes and quality ethos.
- Ensure staff are engaged effectively and efficiently in governance processes
- Support the general principles of a systems approach to quality improvement ensuring that efforts is focused on effective outcomes, and that duplication is reduced.
- Demonstrate a continual approach to improvement in all activities ensuring that effective monitoring is undertaken to achieve required outcomes both in systems supported in the wider directorate, but also those supported within the governance team.
- To ensure effective systems are in place for systematic learning as a result of governance and QI activities (e.g. audit, NICE and risk management activities).

- Degree or equivalent non/clinical qualification or two years relevant clinical governance / clinical audit / quality improvement experience.
- Understanding of clinical governance or other quality improvement and quality assurance approaches.
- 12 months minimum experience in NHS/Healthcare governance.
- NHS/Healthcare audit experience
