This role and contract sit within our Facilities Management sector of G4S where we aim to improve the lives of people across the UK and Ireland by creating productive, safe and smooth working environments.

We have an opportunity for a Cleaning Supervisor to join our team as part of our contract with the NHS, based at Churchill Hospital, OX3 7LJ.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week covering various shifts.  


Job Summary:

As a Cleaning Supervisor, you will supervise a team of housekeeping staff responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.


Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Follow at all times the Trust policies and procedures, ensuring that you work towards the Values. 
  • Manage a team of domestic staff, assigning work and ensuring adequate cover.
  • Supervise and monitor the performance of staff to ensure cleaning standards.
  • Carry out audits and contribute to surveys as required.
  • Support the team, taking responsibility for training and development and maintenance of expectations.
  • Support the housekeeping team in continually reviewing operational procedures to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and emergency procedures as required.
  • Keep up to date with equipment, materials and methods of working by attending training course, reading journals and working on new methods and ideas.
  • Manage transactions of goods inwards and outwards with the company suppliers.
  • Arrange the collection, allocation and distribution of hospital cleaning materials and equipment in accordance with NHS, Trust and Departmental standards and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Criteria:

To be successful for this role you should have an NVQ in Healthcare or Cleaning, Health & Safety Awareness, knowledge of COSHH and Manual Handling Training.

You should also have previous experience of cleaning and people management.

You will be able to work well as a member of a team, be able to communicate in spoken and written English, be organised and methodical and have the ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads.

You should have a respect for patient privacy, property and confidentiality and have the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
