A brand new contract, large scale employment opportunities; HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough will set a gold standard for new build prisons of the future, using forward-thinking design and technology.  The Prison will be the UK’s first purpose-built, resettlement Prison. With the expected opening in early 2022, a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future; HMP Five Wells will be an integral part of the local community.


G4S Custody & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales.   


A peer led Prison, our work in the community and a partnership approach between customers and residents will be vital to enable residents to rehabilitate and equip themselves to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.


Reporting to the Head of Activity, we are looking for a Business Enterprise and Community Manager to join us based at HMP Five Wells. Initially, you will support the mobilisation of the Prison and then continue to build on the mobilisation success into business as usual when the Prison opens in 2022.


Embracing our Social Values, you will develop partnerships with local and national organisations who will implement programmes that connect HMP Five Wells with the wider community supporting resettlement and providing opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will possess a strong track record of building and managing a wide range of stakeholder relationships, experience of implementation projects and experience of project management, including impact tracking.  You will have a consultative and can do attitude. You will work collaboratively and openly whilst offering effective solutions for your business areas.


Some of the key responsibilities’ to this role are:


  • Developing and leading on new partnership opportunities
  • Mapping key teams, contacts and initiatives across both organisations
  • Identifying employers engaged by both parties, the respective contacts at those organisation and activities to understand whether there are opportunities to align
  • Collating materials, resources and understanding the vision for the respective employer
  • Create engagement programmes, activities, research to identify common objectives and workstreams.
  • Connect respective teams including programme activity and education
  • Develop clear shared ways of working and offer in our future opportunities to engage
  • Network to identify the appropriate organisations in the local area
  • Build closer links between current partners and new partners and draw up charter commitments
  • Ensure expansion and further development of existing proven programme delivery and share resources
  • Trialling joint-working approaches
  • Mobilise business engagement working in partnership between G4S and other stakeholders
  • Developing innovative models of delivery between organisations
  • Increase engagement of SME businesses as well as colleges and workplaces
  • Set up clear joint-working approaches with other sector organisations who partner with G4S


You must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral alongside keen negotiation and influencing skills.
