Job Introduction:

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Nuclear ISFSI Security Officer – Armed ISFSI Specialist I. As an Armed ISFSI Specialist I, you will provide physical protection of nuclear Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) facilities against intrusion and acts of sabotage. Conduct ISFSI surveillance. Control access and/or egress of personnel, vehicles and materials. Monitor plant surveillance equipment and alarm systems. Compose reports. Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations. Respond to medical, fire, and hazard emergencies as required. Perform other duties as specified in nuclear training and qualification plan, site procedures, and post orders. Perform duties to support site maintenance as directed.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Maintain compliance with all site policies, procedures, and directives
  • Assess alarms, investigate and report suspicious activities and/or circumstances
  • Identify safety and/or fire hazards and make recommendations for improvement
  • Report degradation, deficiencies and accidents in accordance with current procedures and take appropriate corrective actions as directed by Security force Supervision
  • Control access of personnel, vehicles and materials into the protected area and maintain appropriate log
  • Perform all site and fire watch patrols and maintain appropriate logs
  • Perform site maintenance as directed to include but not limited to snow removal, garbage removal, housekeeping, and landscaping duties
  • Perform compensatory postings and escort duties as directed by Security Force Supervision and in accordance with current procedures and directives
  • Perform surveillance tests and inspections and test alarm and maintain appropriate logs
  • Work varying shifts to cover a 24-hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime
  • Respond to contingency events in accordance with appropriate procedures and as directed by Security Force Supervision
  • Participate in security drills, practical exercises and required training programs as directed

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license
  • Meet any applicable state, county, and municipal requirements for Security Officers

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • If previously employed, meaningful and verifiable work history

  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Be able to work varying shifts to cover a 24-hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
  • Be able to successfully complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position including but not limited to:
    • Security and Training Qualification Plan requirements
    • Thermodynamic and heat transfer theory as applicable to ISFSI operations
    • Nuclear decay heat generation applicable to ISFSI storage
    • Criticality considerations applicable to ISFSI storage
    • Health Physics/Radiation protection
    • Equipment design features and operating characteristics of ISFSI structures and components
    • ISFSI Technical Specifications and selected operating emergency and administrative features
  • Be able to operate a radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors and surveillance equipment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Meet all physical requirements as required in 10CFR73, Appendix B

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and maneuvering to thirty pounds of equipment or gear.
