We are looking for an Area Manager to lead our Events Team in Scotland

Our Area Manager role will play  a key role in helping us deliver our ambition to be the first choice for security management, stewarding and crowd management and helping us set new standards in event security across Scotland. Your role will be to manage the relationships with our customers and deliver exceptional security solutions for the benefit and safety of every customer. through your team on Operations Managers and support. With a track record of delivering events not necessarily in security, we are open to candidates for other sectors, you will have the ability to build relationships with our partners and the authorities that support every event.

This new role will bring a higher level of support for the events we help our customers host. In return, your career ambitions will be supported by the global leader in security and through the influence and inspiration of our new Senior Leadership Team of G4S Events.

Main Responsibility will be to drive delivery of the Area P&L and growth targets in line with budget through a team of Operations and Contract Managers. Ensure delivery of all events across the Area meet customer and business requirements in line with the relevant cost and resource models and budget. Ensure compliance with standard and consistent Events processes and external legislative requirements.  Lead and Support Major Events on a National Basis as and when required. Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Events business objectives are achieved


Key Responsibilities:-


  • Line management accountability for Operations Managers, Operations Executives and Contract Managers aligning individual objectives to business key performance indicators 
  • Approval according to limits of authority for cost models and resource plan i.e. for Events up to £50k or exceeding deployment of 100 workers 
  • Accountability for P&L for geographical area across multiple contracts delivering in year and growth targets
  • Deliver major events within the area ensuring proactive planning to drive compliance to internal ways of working and external and legislative requirements,  safety, customer service and delivery of budget
  • Ensure compliance to internal ways of working and external legislative requirements across all events within the Area
  • Maintain and improve customer relationships delivering retention and growth in key accounts within the area
  • Proactively plan for events calendar within the area and  engage support functions to ensure efficient and effective delivery of requirements
  • Support Head of Region in identifying opportunities and delivering business growth for the area in line with in year sales target and business plan
  • Operational lead on major events including external stakeholder requirements delivery of crowd safety management plans in line with contractual and budgetary requirements
  • Operational representation and support for Operations Managers as required in the delivery of larger events i.e. £25k plus, deployment over 200  workers or high risk (i.e. due to audience or artist behavior)
  • Point of escalation for Operations Managers and customers on complaints and worker issues 
  • Partner with Operations Support to provide appropriate MI on area performance 
  • Support HoR with cost control and debt management
  • Responsible for driving employee engagement survey and subsequent actions to address areas of improvement
  • Represent the business at multi agency tabletop and resilience testing exercises 
  • Support the management and development of direct reports ensuring an appropriate succession plan and driving business resilience and customer confidence across the region
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Level 4 Crowd Management ( or willing to work towards)
  • Door Supervisor License ( willing to undertake) 
  • Experience planning and  delivering major events 
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience of P&L accountability
  • Multi agency relationship management
