As an Access Credential Technician, you will serve as a primary point of contact who will assist with safety, security and access control within the client's Restricted Access Areas (RAA) locations in accordance with MTSA Regulations, State of Florida Statutes and the client’s Access Control Policies and Procedures. Must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and clerical accuracy, including correct spelling and legible handwriting are of the highest importance. Must have a commitment to superior customer service and continuously demonstrate appropriate interpersonal relations and ability to work within time constraints are required. The work force member must have the ability to exercise independent judgment and flexibility in the context of following established law, policies and procedures in a fluid work environment.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Shall issue appropriate credentials, badges, passes, decals or other designated access devices as required by law, regulation, policy or procedure
  • Answering phones, following visitor control processes, escorting contractors and visitors, and ensuring sign-in procedures are followed
  • Shall accurately enter required information into all required electronic / computerized databases and shall strictly guard against the issuance of access credentials or devices to unqualified individuals, groups or activities
  • Perform customer service by interacting with internal and external visitors with a well-developed level of maturity and professionalism , while maintaining discipline, excellent appearance, professional demeanor, integrity, and attention to detail at all times
  • Manning designated security posts, roaming security patrols and guard tours as needed, checking and securing entry points and reporting issues of concern
  • Shall critically examine all required documents, including application forms and identification documents to confirm their authenticity ad complete compliance with the requirements of MTSA, the State and the client
  • Shall immediately report to the client’s Access Control Coordinator and immediate supervisor all instances of suspected or actual criminality, bribery, fraud, forgery, misrepresentation or potential breach of security
  • Shall immediately report to the Access Control Coordinator and immediate supervisor all complaints,  that are not immediately and satisfactorily resolvable, hazardous or unsafe conditions, work stoppage, equipment malfunctions, by the Technician
  • Shall disengage and immediately report to the Access Control Coordinator and immediate supervisor all instance of verbal or physical conflict / confrontation, workplace violence, sexual harassment or other prescribed behavior by any access applicant or co-worker

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable licensing or certifications requirements (e.g. TWIC, MTSA, FEMA, AED, CPR or First Aid)
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
  • Pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves or National Guard
    • Service in auxiliary police or police cadets
    • Meaningful and verifiable work history
    • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Must be able to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must have active listening skills
  • Must be able to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Must be able to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Must possess strong attention to detail
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor  and outdoor with minimal exposure to extreme temperatures

Major activity:  Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, and sitting.  Minimal to no stooping or kneeling
