As an Access Control Officer, you will serve as a primary point of contact who will assist with safety, security and access control within the client's owned and /or leased employee campuses, transportation hubs, and bus stop locations. The Access Control Officer will also assign photo identification cards as set by specified policies and perform other duties as specified in post orders.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Take ID/badge pictures to create access control badges; assign temporary access as needed for contractors, employee and visitors
  • Answer phones, follow visitor control processes, escort contractors and visitors, and ensuring sign-in procedures are followed
  • Respond to alarms/alerts and taking appropriate corrective action; assess and monitor the access control system and CCTV
  • Perform customer service by interacting with internal and external visitors with a well-developed level of maturity and professionalism
  • Stand designated security posts, roaming security patrols and guard tours, checking and securing entry points and reporting issues of concern
  • Monitor all security and other building infrastructure for proper operation; validating operation of access control and CCTV systems and periodically checking critical equipment and risk areas per post orders
  • Report all issues that cannot be resolved within scope of work to supervisor and manager
  • Maintain discipline, excellent appearance, professional demeanor, integrity, and attention to detail at all times

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable licensing or certifications requirements (e.g. AED, CPR or First Aid)
  • Must submit to any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
  • Must submit to a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves, or National Guard
    • Service in Auxiliary Police or Police Cadets
    • Meaningful and verifiable work history
    • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Be able to work flexible schedules
  • Must complete conflict resolution training within sixty (60) days of assignment
  • Must complete sexual harassment training within sixty (60) days of assignment
  • Must complete training on how to deal with aggressive individuals within sixty (60) days of assignment
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Indoor and outdoor with minimal exposure to extreme temperatures

Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling. Minor lifting.
