Job Introduction:

We are actively seeking to recruit enthusiastic, hard working individual in the role of Security Officer to join our team to be based at Manchester Magistrates Court in Salford, Manchester.

The position is  20hrs per week covering variable day time shifts on any day of the week as required. The post holder will be paid 20 hrs per week minimum with potential for weekly over-time at same hourly rate to cover full time colleagues annual leave /sickness or extra cover as needed for business purposes.

Role Responsibility:

The main responsibilities that this role will involve are the following;

  • Presenting at all times a smart, alert, visible and commanding security presence

  • Access Control - Control of access doors and gates to ensure that only authorised persons and vehicles are permitted access.

  • Conducting entry searches of all persons entering buildings via public entrances (or any member of the public entering via any other entrance) by means of archway metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors and visual searches of bags, parcels and containers to ensure that no weapons, explosive devices or other prohibited items are brought on to the premises.

  • Undertaking a test of the search of equipment at the beginning of every day and recording in the Assignment Log Book and Test Register.

  • Prevention of ; Attending to and dealing with security incidents, including undertaking searches and ensuring the correct and agreed evacuation procedures are followed by all members of the public in the event of an emergency 

  • Carrying out regular patrols of the building and its environment as and when required.

  • Issue and collection of visitors and contractors’ passes.

  • Escort of visitors and contractors.

  • Supervision of contractors and cleaners etc. in secure areas.

  • Preventing or excluding persons from secure parts of the building or its environment.

  • Conduct First Aid as and when required ( If covered by a current F/A certificate )

  • Maintaining security of keys and control of issue to authorised personnel;

  • Regular checks to ensure that security/safety equipment is fully operational, including fire alarms, personal attack alarms, archway metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors and radios.

  • Regular checks of security locks (for example digital, swipe card, proximity reader), security lighting

  • Opening up the building at the start of the day;

  • Closing down and securing the building at the end of the day and setting the alarm system.

  • Completing Incident reports.

  • Completion of Security Assignment Log book and Records.

  • Report all Issues to their Supervisor as and when required in line with escalation process.

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by Management

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is flexible and enjoys working as part of a hardworking, conscientious team in a fast pace environment.  Due to the environment in which this role is operating it is important that you have good interpersonal skills and treat those that you come into contact with integrity and respect at all times and if comfortable dealing with sensitive situations whilst remaining professional at all times. 

Ideally you will have experience of working as a Security Officer in the Security Industry.

Priority will be given to those applicants who hold a valid frontine SIA licence
