Allied Universal Electronic Monitoring is the industry leading technology and service company offering law enforcement and government agencies the widest variety of cutting-edge monitoring solutions. Operating in over 35 countries, we leverage an international network of expertise and resources in order to deliver a unique solution.

With nearly 30 years of industry experience in providing innovative technology solutions and first-class service, our latest electronic monitoring technologies provide solutions that aim to ensure the safety of our communities, provide an alternative to incarceration, reduce prison, overcrowding, lower recidivism and improve reintegration.

We enable our customers to effectively monitor approximately 140,00 participants every day. This includes many of the world's largest electronic monitoring programs.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team here at Allied Universal as a NPI Engineer. As a fast paced and growing business we are looking for a hands-on NPI Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to bridge the gap between design and full scale production. This is a technical role: you will design and build the physical test fixtures, and then into the lab to lead the testing and validation of our newest products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fixture Design & Commissioning: Support in the design and physical build of custom test fixtures.

  • Product Testing & Validation: Support the R&D team to execute test plans for new products, ensuring they meet mechanical specifications before they hit the production line.

  • DFM (Design for Manufacture): Review electronic/mechanical product designs early, and recommend design changes to make them easier to build and test.

  • Prototyping: Oversee the creation of prototypes, physically testing and validating that both the product and the production tooling meet performance specs.

  • Process Documentation: Create clear work instructions and assembly procedures that make complex builds repeatable for the production team.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Review production issues, using a logical and hands on approach to fix any open issues.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Practical Hand Skills: You understand how parts fit together and are proficient with hand tools and workshop machinery to build sturdy, reliable mechanical assemblies.

  • CAD Proficiency: Experience in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) specifically for designing mechanical parts, jigs, or enclosures.

  • Lab Experience: Comfortable working in a lab setting using mustimeters, sensors, or environmental chambers to validate product performance.

  • Logical Problem Solver: You can look at a failure in the lab or on the line, diagnose whether it’s a part issue or a fixture issue, and implement a fix.

  • Communication: The ability to translate "lab data" into "production reality" for both designers and operators.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Proven track record in Product Development or Manufacturing.

  • Demonstrable experience in designing and commissioning test fixtures.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, 3D printing, assembly).

  • Scientific acumen and the ability to maintain a controlled testing environment.

  • HNC or above in Electronic or Mechanical Engineerin

If you feel you have the level of experience and skills we are looking for and are excited about our role then please send across your CV. Based on the nature of our business successful candidates are required to undertake a screening and vetting process. You will be required to have the right to work in the UK and have also been resident in the UK for 5 years.
