To drive profitable growth in the North East Region through development and leadership of an effective team that operates through the G4S Values; delivery of excellent service to existing Local and National customers; improving operating efficiency and; expanding the portfolio.

To contribute to the effectiveness of the regional team through responsibilities and participation in initiatives that supports the development of the business in the North.

Key Responsibilities: 

To define the Branch (which may be by geography, customer segment or functional specialisation) and develop and agree a Strategic Plan for its development that:

  • Is consistent with G4S strategy; and both supports other Regions, and uses the capabilities of the whole G4S and its partners wherever possible.

  • Reflects current and potential demand, and is resourced to enable consistent delivery.

  • Identifies and builds Value Added service capabilities and customer loyalty.

  • Has clear, measurable KPIs and Objectives consistent with the financials and other G4S requirements; and reflect these in Budgets and Trading updates as required

To deliver results from the Region that meet or exceed the Business Plan; Budget and Forecasts through full responsibility and accountability for the P&L and effective use of Management, other Area staff and G4S support functions including:

  • Growth of the Region Portfolio revenue and profitability through acquisition of new customers; expansion of existing contracts; minimizing contract reductions and losses; and appropriate price increases. Ensure regular meetings with customers, assessment of satisfaction and compliance with contractual and SLA requirements.

  • Capture of additional profitable revenue opportunities where these arise and do not impact core Portfolio service.

  • Close monitoring and management of all direct costs to maximize efficiency at service levels appropriate to each contract; and development and sharing of “best practice” and use of systems and tools to improve margins.  Ensure avoidable and non-chargeable costs including Tribunals are minimized by effective planning and staff management.

  • Close monitoring and management of all indirect costs to ensure these match the requirements for the effective operation of the Branch.

  • Management of Risk through effective tender pricing; regular contract reviews & site assessments; and attention to credit collection and Daily Sales Outstanding (DSOs).

  • Ensure accuracy of all operational and sales management data; and regularly review and report on progress, highlighting any risk of significant variances as they arise and taking action where needed.

To build, develop, lead and retain a team of Support Staff and Officers that believe and demonstrate through their work that G4S is different to other Security service providers through:

  • Ensuring understanding and demonstrable implementation of the Values of; We act with Integrity and Respect. We are passionate about Safety, Security and Service Excellence. We achieve this through Innovation and Teamwork.

  • Ensuring adequate and appropriate training, advice and support is provided to make the team successful.  This includes ensuring knowledge and use of key systems, tools and policies; undertaking regular appraisals; providing open feedback on progress and career development; and use of sanctions for underperformance.

  • Delegate authority and empower and hold staff accountable to clear objectives that assist in Branch development.

  • Active steps to maintain communication; recognise achievement and develop the G4S Community.

  • Managing recruitment and succession planning to ensure that the Branch has the capability to execute the Business Plan.

  • Fully accountable for the on call roster, responding to any missed book on/missed check calls/absenteeism using the branch escalation procedure to report any problems.

To be aware of, and (with the assistance of G4S support functions) ensure all staff and officers in the Branch comply with, all aspects of G4S Policy and relevant legal and regulatory requirements; and can demonstrate appropriate levels of control.

To actively participate and support the development of G4S through:

  • Involvement in the development of the G4S strategy and its implementation through initiatives.

  • Support to other Regions and the G4S support functions by sharing best practice; and contributing to specific National projects and customer or partner relationships as agreed.

  • Building knowledge of the market and competitors; and enhance the profile of G4S through engagement of Area staff and participation in local Industry forums.
