About the role and team

Our team at Court Services Victoria keeps the courts and tribunals and the people who attend them safe, secure and orderly. For people living with family violence, court security also makes the experience of attending court safer and less confronting.

We are currently seeking professional, well-presented security personnel to work as Security Officers at the Victorian County Court in Melbourne CBD.

Duties in the role include

• Providing friendly and efficient customer service to everyone who enters the facility
• Respond rapidly to alarms and physical incidents as part of a coordinated team
• Perform all duties in strict accordance with G4S and County Court Operating Policies, Emergency Plans, and Post Orders.
• Act as a primary responder during any incidents that may arise
• Ensure all visitors adhere to courtroom etiquette and legal protocols
• Conflict resolution and negotiation
• Writing detailed and accurate reports
• Working alongside Corrections Victoria and Victoria Police PSOs
• Maintain a proactive security presence through internal and external patrols, high-risk court monitoring, and routine alarm testing while remaining physically prepared for rapid incident and code response

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you must possess at least 2+ years of proven experience in a highly challenging, high-tension security environment (e.g., corrections, high-risk retail, or similar).

• Proven experience in diffusing high-tension situations using sound judgment.
• Competency in taking authoritative control during emergencies. You must be capable of acting as a Fire Warden or Chief Warden.
• A proven track record of challenging non-compliant behavior and making rapid, accurate decisions under extreme operational pressure.
• Prior experience within a Court Facility or dedicated Emergency Response team.
• Experience working in a Security Control Room, (Desired, but not essential).
• Formal certification or experience as a Chief Fire Warden (Desired, but not essential).
