Salary £28,071.20 per annum

Permanent - Full Time (40 hours per week)

Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP & YOI Parc accommodates 1800 convicted male adult prisoners and remand/ convicted young offenders and young people in a secure but modern environment.</p>

 

We are looking for a Purchasing Clerk to join our Business Hub based at HMP & YOI Parc to assist in the smooth and efficient ordering and expediting of purchase requisitions by providing sound administrative support and assistance in related issues</span>

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Processes purchase orders from requisition to completion
  • Manage the full processing of Prisoner catalogue orders, including verifying approved items and submitting orders to vendors.
  • Accurately update and reconcile CMS and charge prisoners' accounts.
  • Maintain and update purchasing records and tracking systems.
  • Financial accountability for transactions made on the company credit card.
  • Manage company vehicles & car hires as required.</span>
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers
  • Attend and contribute to prisoner meetings as required.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all purchasing-related queries from staff and prisoners.
  • Manage and operate various I.T systems and digital portals for purchasing and bookings.
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation requests for staff
  • Dealing with general daily queries and ensuring the day to day needs of the business are met.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.</span>

Essential Skills

  • Educated to GCSE Level
  • Experience of working in a busy office /department
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organisational skills; a detail-oriented approach
  • Reliability under pressure

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience of working within a purchasing department
