Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vetting Lead to become part of the G4S Security Team, based at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater, Somerset.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience of vetting to join and lead our Site Vetting Unit team on the Hinkley Point C project.

The vetting Lead fulfils a key role in delivering the industry assurance requirement to have all staff and contractors cleared to at least the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before being set to work unescorted on a civil nuclear industry licensed site. 

The Vetting Lead is responsible for leading a team of Vetting Officers who conduct the verification and processing of all security clearance applications submitted by contractors and staff so that a clearance decision can be made which will eventually lead to the applicant gaining full access to the Hinkley Point C site.

Role Responsibility:

  • Leading a team of vetting officers to deliver the Site Vetting Unit (SVU) capability for the Hinkley Point C project as per working instructions and industry guidelines
  • Leading on vetting administration and verification responsibilities for the Hinkley Point C project and associated sites.
  • Providing a focal point for all vetting enquiries with subject matter expertise.
  • Overseeing the verification of BPSS vetting casework and on ward progression to the central vetting service within agreed timelines.
  • Interfacing within the project with other vetting team members, training, HR and externally with contractor organisations.
  • Ensuring regulatory requirements for vetting on site are complied with by all staff and contractors.
  • Providing the vetting officers with support, guidance, leadership, training and development.
  • Leading on the delivery of all audits ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Monitoring and delivering service level requirements and statistics as per KPI’s
  • Providing vetting training and mentoring support to other EDF NNB nuclear new build projects and tier 1 contractors

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Competent IT skills with a working knowledge of MS Office & Google applications
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Have strong leadership
  • Be able to adapt and remain flexible
  • Previous experience of vetting processes is essential
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trust based relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of training and mentoring
  • Ability to hold National Security Clearance
  • 5 years checkable work history
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK/EU
  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • Formal training qualification is desirable
